I have an issue with my passenger's side tire. It keeps going bald on me AND when I step on it, it pulls to the right quite significantly.

At first I thought it may be an alignment issue. So I had a full alignment done. Didn't fix it.

Then I thought, crap - I wonder if someone replaced the tranny right before I bought the car with a NON-LSD one... which would really suck... and I couldnt find the LSD stamp on the tranny. So I did some honda-tech searching and found that when the car is in the air, I can turn one tire and the other turns in the opposite direction - meaning yes, I do have LSD (phewf)

What could the problem be? Is it possible for the lsd to be "out of adjustment"? Possible my passenger's side A-arm is ever so slightly bent?

I'd do some more research into that whole turn one tire in the air and the other spins the opposite direction. I seem to remember my LS doing that as well.

We had to take one of the wheels off while it was in the air and I had to go to the other side and try to hold the wheel still while my friend took the nuts off.

I think the best way for you to tell is pull one of the axels out, then shine a flashlight in the differential hole. If you see a bar in the middle of the hole, you got had. If you see the other axel with nothing in the middle of the differential, you have an LSD.

first off OEM LSD is a load based setup so can it not be checked with both wheels up in the air. If you do it that way it will work exactly like you mention, which is the way an open (non-LSD dif) works also.
the best (see non destructive) way to make sure you have an OEM LSD is to pull the axles and make sure there is no bar running across the middle of the axle holes.
bar = standard dif
no bar = LSD

Other ways of checking for LSD are a little more involved. Other than a little burn out, you can also turn the wheel one turn (with a lot of pavment in front of you) and simply stomp on the throttle, if the inner tire spins and the car accelerates slowly then you likely have an open dif. If the inner tire start to spin then the car sort of stutters a little and then the car accelerates close to what is does with the wheel straight then you have LSD.

As far as your one tire destruction problem... how hot is your rim/tire after driving a short distance? (dead give away to a stuck floating pin on the caliper)

I guess my question to the O.P. is, Are you constantly doing burnout's?

IMO, you are suffering from a serve alignment issue and you say you had your aligment checked. Something in there is causing your aligment to go WAY out if you are significantly pulling to the right on acceleration. An LSD finaldrive... etc etc is not going to cause that.


You never stated whether or not it is the inner tire, outer tire or all of it that is going bald.

You would think the car wouldn't align properly if there were any bent suspension parts.

What type of suspension is on your car?

Like John said, inner tire or outer tire going bald?

Maybe your wheel is bent crazy or something.

All good thoughts. To answer some questions:

-Not a rim issue, I switched rims with the back tire and it is still doing it.

-Inner tire is getting the majority of the baldness.

-All OEM susp parts except for H&R sport springs and a camber adj kit.

-NOT doing ANY burnouts. I never ever beat on my car like that.

-I wasn't thinking a LSD would cause it to pull to the one side, I was thinking NOT having one would...

-Tire/Rim not hot, or at least not hotter than any of the other ones.

Check that first, but like you said you had your alignment checked. I bet you have broken/worn bushings somewhere.......

Definitely suspension and/or alignment related. Definitely not caused by a diff, whether it be an open diff or LSD.

Did they give you the print out from the alignment machine? If so, list the toe, camber and caster here.

A non-LSD transaxle is not going to cause this kind of wear.

That sucks! I'm wondering if you have an adj camber kit up front, or just something like the ingalls kit.
