GS Being Ebay as ITR
I almost never post, but came across this and priced unreasonably to say the least. and the sad part that it was probably built with mostly stolen parts.
If you are in this forum, please take it as a feedback that a car like this is merely only its value in parts.
What would you say? $5K ish

Very well executed conversion. Not sure what the going rate is on a clean genuine ITR these days.
Insane how much the price is inflating, and how quickly. Definitely worth way more than $5K as OP is trying to say, and I see no reason to assume it was built with stolen parts.

There is no way to price a conversion, it has no collectability value. For someone that wants a Type R but can't find one then this may be fine, as long as you know what you are getting. I'm sure it is a decent car, but it is not a Type R, no matter how many ITR parts are on it. It should not approach anywhere near the price of an authentic Type R. I am sure there is a price point where the car may be a good value, I don't think it is $21 US, don't authentic Type R's go for $30k US ? I'd be somewhat interested at no more than $15k if I was a motivated buyer It looks like a nice conversion but I would not want one.

I was thinking the same thing, or that it at least was originally an RS or LS instead, but then I read that he even swapped the roof too. I wouldn’t personally pay that price, but damn, props to the guy. This is like our generation of an Eleanor recreation. There may be no real market for it right now, but wait 20 more years until there are no clean ITR’s left, and the only option is to do a recreation build like this one based off of a lower tier model that someone never drove for 40 years.

His car, his price I say(even if I'm still a little gobsmacked for how much R's go for you guys over in the US). Looks like a very well done "homage" too and one that would fool most people on first look.
Though one thing has me scratching my head: If you gave me a GSR, the very first thing mechanically I'd take and install from an R before anything else would be the LSD, then the suspension and brakes.

Aside from some missing seam welds, what’s missing to make a “real type r” worth 2X or more? Of course, that’s coming from a dude who recently made a down payment on a real JDM 98 Spec DB8 Type R, so maybe ignore me.

Re: GS Being Ebay as ITR
Btw, it's almost a sure thing that the seam welds never happened.

+1 D, they didn't. More spot welds in some areas yes and thicker steel in a few more, but no seam welds. That's some journalistic hype that became "fact" over time. The intakes weren't polished beyond the first years Japanese production either(though they still showed that in JDM brochures until the end of the run).

I'm okay with the whole thing, with exception of the Type R badges, that just doesn't sit right with me. If I bought the car I'd take the badges off because you know people are going to ask if it is a real Type R, and I just couldn't say yes with a straight face. I love the car for what it is.
