I don't miss my S2000 at all. It's a car I occasionally forget even owning. I miss my Integras if I don't drive them for a few weeks.
RWD is fun, but it's not a requirement for a great car. The ITR is a car that I don't believe I will ever sell. Hell, I always back out from selling my GS-R because I know I'd miss it.
Myself and local ITR owners that I know have been through numerous cars, M3's, S2000s, Elise, 911s (including a RS America).. all of those are gone. The ITRs remain.

See I 100% agree with you. There is "something" about the ITR, and the ITR was definitely a more fulfilling owner experience than my S2000, the two Miata's and other Integra's that I have owned. I think it is because the ITR has some history behind it. The only R in the states, the only "JDM have to have it" car to come stateside (at the time... the WRX, STI and EVO were much later). That is why I "think" I will have the same love affair with a 911. The cayman/boxster is a much better handling car (if given the same power), but there is something about the 911... the history... that makes me want that car so bad. That is also why I want RWD. FWD can definitely be made to be just as fast on a race track... but there is something about the history of RWD, the challenge, that makes me want to go RWD.
I don't know... who knows.... if I get some $$$ we'll see what I'll do... ITR? or save up some money and go P-car?

Re: This caR is sooooooo Slooowwwwww!!!
Yep I said it.
I don't regret it.
I admit it and I'm PROUD of it!
Now I totally apppreciate what learning how to drive in a slow car such as this means. Don't get me wrong. This is not a complaint thread. I truly love my R. Today was a nice clear day to take it out so I did and brought it to work.
Things I've realized on my short ride in to work today:
The car is small. I mean not micro sized but definitely small and smaller than alot of other newer cars on the road today and freakin tiny in comparison to all the Monster SUV's out there tromping the highways and byways. Before I back halfed it, it weighed totally stock with half a tank @ 2560lbs.
It's LOUD! Well mine is. When doing anything but idling or toe-on throttle at 60 MPH it's just a blaring loud Fawker. Playing the radio or trying to talk on the phone is an exercise in futility. God forbid anything past 5,700 rpm ya can't hear yerr passenger even when yelling at eachother. And I've got a quieter exhaust. Go figure.
The handling is very precise BUT the steering lacks compared to my DD EVO. Needs to be tighter and quicker imo. Only positive compared to the EVO in this relation is it's actual turning radius is much better.
The Shifter is PURE BLISS. I just love the smoothe easy Honda snick, snick. The clutch is a tad light but super easy to play with.
The BRAKES, oh God the brakes, there's not quite enough for me to say that will explain just how good the stock brakes with VG quality R compound pads are. Even on ancient Kumho MX's, this car will almost do an endo and flip on itself when I apply the brake pedal too abruptly. I mean yeah the ABS is great. But holy crap this car stops like nothing else I've driven. If this car had say ALOT more power I could see needing more stop. But these things are on the verge of Over compensation in the stopping department. Add R comp tires and just forget about it.
The suspension has been redone about 4 years back and it's completely track oriented, at this point I want even more agressive springs and valving. For the track it's a great starting point. On North Eastern roads it's just ragged and bouncy. The stock suspension was VG, just Not up to track tasks anymore. No complaints here at all though.
The Fun, It's such a fun car. Its a car that involves you with it's workings. You feel the road through the front tires clawing forward transmitted almost telepathically up and through the steering wheel. You can actually feel every crack and ferr chrissakes even paint lines.
The Attention, Yep it still gets attention. Mine is black in VG shape but debadged and I still get ppl knowing what it is and noticing it out in the world. Was at a traffic light in town and 2 kids at the local gas-N-go yelled from the parking lot as they came jogging over to see if it was a "real" Type-R. When I confirmed they wahooed and gave thumbs up and stood and stared as I drove off when it went green.
She's been in my hands from day one, 9 going on 10 years now, roughly 47,000 original miles. She's been through alot. Tracking, AutoXing, travelling and meeting lots of other R's and wonderful people and friends over the years. She's mine and I'm keeping her forever. She may not be the fastest by far but damn she's one of the most overall fun cars I've ever driven.
So in recap, Fast? No. Fun as Hell? FAWK YEAH!!!

I love Cayman's also. They are a better drivers car, but lack the history, specialness (is that a word? ) and I guess the attention (if you care, I don't, in fact I consider it a negative) that the 911 has.
My dream P-Car garage would be a 997GT3 (new one), 997GT3RS (new one), 996GT3, 09+ Cayman S, 964 RS America, a few old 911s, and a Euro (for the MT) Panamera S (I respect that it was designed for function over form, to me that speaks volumes about Porsche's motivations for bringing the car to market). Anyone want to lend me a few hundred grand? Mixed in with that would be an odd mix of cars, Conquest, ITR, MR2SC, MR2T, and RX7 or two, a few old Alfas, etc

You know Mitsubishi originally named it a Stalion... but if youre Japanese you pronounce all your L's as R's... so they just changed it it to Starion!

Yes!! The only replacement I've ever entertained, and still do sometimes, is something from Porsche. This is a true testiment to the awesomeness of the ITR. It will take something that costs at least 5 times as much to replace it and have it be an IMPROVEMENT. Not bad for an 11 year old caR.

I haven't had an ITR since 05' (stupid high theft living area), but I have to drive my 95 GS-R at least once a week or I miss it . Its all dented to hell and the clutch is starting to slip but for some reason I have to drive it periodically. My wife wants me to sell it because we do not need 3 cars but I would rather sell my GS430 than my Integra, even if its a lowly GS-R.
Like many others here I've also owned an M3 and EVO but I still come back to the Integra's.
It's obviously only a feeling that an enthusiast will have, but they are damn fun cars to drive whether fast or not.

It's actually the only car that I've owned while owning a DC2 that made it possible to not drive a DC2 for a month+.
That, my old Cressida and my DC2s are my favorite cars that I've owned so far, and it's a fairly long list...

I find that another very fun to drive car is an FD RX-7. I find driving an FD is a lot like driving an ITR, at least in handling ability.
