Bought another ITR + Pics of my M3! Need help with tire size :(
Hello HT ITR forum!
So I've been gone for a while, had the yellow ITR but sold it as a shell... it was hit by two different cars within 2 months of a full respray lol.. I was bitter.
Then I bought an M3 and put in some work:
Then just this week I picked up this 1997 gem Just couldn't stay away. 97-395 clean title!
Now on to my question! I want to go with 16x7 wheels for summer, likey rota slips, and likley with 214/45/16... can anyone help me out with offset specs and whether or not that tire size is a good idea???? I'm thinkin +40 offset with that rubber would be bang on.
Cheers!

+42 is about perfect with a 16x7" wheel on an ITR.
As for rubber, either 205/45/16 or 215/45/16 will work fine.

I'll prob pick up a set of Volk TE37SLs in 15x8 +35 once they release some better colors. Then I can fit 225s with no problem.

Doespike - 359000km!!! I just couldn't resist, it's currently being shipped and I should have it in my hands tomorrow! It's already in the registry but I will send you an update and pic.
With regards to the Volks, I'm honestly not a fan. If anything I will probably end up with Work rsz-r in 16x7 +35 or +42, whatever comes up first.
Here's an issue for debate... Do I install JDM front on a 97 that has all the original sheetmetal? (Read bumper has been replaced) I really don't care for the 1997 front end, and I'm not about to install a 98+ USDM front lol...

Are you planning on tracking the car? Tire choices were horrible in 16" so I switched to a 15" wheel. If not then nevermind .

The pics of both the R's are just mind blowing..you got that one in an extremely great condition. however the yellow one looks the sportiest of all and is quite a beauty.

Why not go with another set of 16" ITR wheels? You can find them for almost the same price as Rota's nowadays. I have 205/45/16 on my ITR's and could easily fit 215/45's. Might even try to see if a 225/45 will fit.
BTW, nice pickup on the ITR. Looks real good

It's actually a non ZCP Mystic Blue! Just has a lot of time and money invested, I can post a link to the journal on M3 forums if anyone cares to see it. I actually just ordered the OEM CSL Airbox
I can get a set of 16" JDM wheels so cheap with rubber but not sure I like the look of the JDM 16's unless it has JDM front and OEM Aero... would be happy if someone can post a pic of a 97 that looks good on theJDM 16's!
Paid 7500$ CAD, just couldn't go wrong at the price. I'm picking the car up from the shipper in 2 hours, wish me luck!

Either way, for the price of the JDM 16 I might as well buy them as a temp solution and for the tires!
Cheers!

It's your car so it's up to you in the end. I have a 97 and I would never change the front end, personally I prefer the 97 USDM front end to anything else cus it just yells old school to me, same goes for the amber rear turn signals. There aren't many USDM 97s left anymore (not many to start with either).

Where are you guys finding the 16" JDM wheels so cheap for? Every set I've seen in the past year or so have been beat, and the nice ones always seem to have used tires on them and the person wants a mint for them.
