Re: '96 Spec JDM
Always enjoy a good write up! I have been putting it off a bit as I'm worried about them going back together the same. I have an extra pair and possibly want to use to two passenger seats to make a good set. Will involve swapping the ***** over etc and new bolsters

Re: '96 Spec JDM
Replaced heR front lower arm bushings, compliance bushings and front stablizer links with new OEM parts. Full OEM Honda rebush complete.
Manage to damage the sleeve of one the lower arm bushings as I pressed it in. Doesn't seem to effect anything but it's a shame. Should I replace it, what do you guys think?

Decided I will replace that bush.
Cleaned the air filter and changed the oil and oil filter. Went with OEM Honda oil and filter. I also cleaned the door hinges and surrounding area then regreased the hinges with white lithium grease.

Re: '96 Spec JDM
Got the damaged bush replaced with another new OEM part. I have to say the car feels very nice to drive with the new bushings, it really does feel 'newer'. The old ones didn't 'look' bad but the new ones have made a difference without a doubt. Just need to have the alignment checked now.

+1000. Unless the shocks and springs are totally knackered with crazy mileage on them, changing out the bushes makes the biggest difference in my humble. Double wishbone suspension setups are better in more than a few ways, but one of their disadvantages is more bushes than Central Park and they tend tow ear out more quickly(even when looking OK) and when they wear out that slop is felt more keenly. That and the expense are likely the biggest reasons Honda and everyone else outside of exotics went the McPherson strut type layout, cheaper to build and fit and with fewer bushings and wear is less noticeable.

Re: '96 Spec JDM
Fixed the rear hatch upper seal with 3M double sided tape. Pictures below for **** and anyone else.
First thing is to put some tape or a towel on the roof to protect it.
Use a plastic trim tool to pry up the part of the seal that's come away. Then pull it onto the tape or towel on the roof.
Now start picking/pealing off the old tape. I used another plastic trim tool.
Once you've got the worst off, wipe the seal with iso or panel wipe.
Fit the new tape and trim the edges. You'll need sizes of about 10mm and 5mm width.
Push the seal back under the bootlid in position and then simply open the hatch all the way and it will push the seal onto the hatch. You could help start it by using a right angled tool to press it on but opening the hatch does most of the work.
And there you have it.
FYI you can't replace the seal without removing the glass from the hatch but I think this is the next best thing. Most of the tape used on the Integra is 3M so you could say it's still the way Honda made it :-)

Re: '96 Spec JDM
One of the bumper bolts was stripped and spinning inside the front cross member, I found this out the last time I put the bumper on. I cut the end off with a Dremel and then drilled the rest of it out and used a M6x1.0 thread repair kit. Also ran an M6x1.0 tap threw the bolt hole on the other side to clean the threads up and fitted new OEM bolts.
She still looks clean behind the bumper. I was toying with the idea of removing the undercoat but after having seen a '96 Spec on one of the Best Motiring videos with undercoat in the same area, I think I'll leave it alone.

Damn that car is a credit to you. Real concours stuff going on.
Good How To on the rear seal thingie. Over the last few years I cobbled together loadsa spare bits and bobs for the future, among them was a rear hatch, so I can do the seal off the car which'll make it much easier. I also notice you guys recently got the same dusty rain we got in the other damp island off the coast of Europe.

Re: '96 Spec JDM
Had a small gremlin to deal with that I tackled now the weather over here has improved. Small amount of rust on the front right chassis leg. Sanded back to smooth, clean metal, wiped over and then used Bilt Hamber Electox Zinc Rich Primer followed by Championship White and a sprinkle of clear coat. These areas barely have any clear on them from factory. I also sanded back and painted the torque mount bracket. I used my Genuine Honda Civic EG body repair manual for paint repair reference because I like things done to OEM standard, in case you hadn't noticed.

Re: '96 Spec JDM
^ That turned out great! I really like your attention to detail and wanting to keep things as close to OEM original as possible. In the EG Civic body repair manual, did it have specifics about the paint to use on the torque mount bracket? I'd like to know what Honda recommends. Some people go with powdercoat or any of a variety of rattle-can black paint, but I'm a stickler for the details, as well.

Curious why you are using 10w-40 vs 5w-30 or 10w-30 ? Mine don't seem to like any thing over 10w30. Even using high mileage Mobil 1 the car didn't seem to like it. I had to change my shift points for normal driving or it would bog . Ended up going back before the oil change was due it bothered me so much. Nice ride. Digging your thread. You should put on itrca too.
