Will Dynomat Help supress loud exhausts??
I was wondering if dynomating the rear hatch area would have any affect on the loudness (bass) of an exhaust?? I'm talking about a couple layers on the rear lower area around the spare tire well. I used to have a Thermal 3" on my boosted teg and the bass was just TOO loud on long trips. What do you guys think?

good question, i want to lay some fatmat(dynamat alternative) underneath the car where the muffler lives. would that supress the noise?

yes, but you will be putting a fair ammount of weight in your trunk.
I guess the question you have to ask yourself, is the ammount of weight you are going to gain by putting the dynomat in your trunk enough to offset the hp gained from the exhaust, if the noise is troublesome and you are going to put in dynomat, it may be a good idea just to go back to a stock exhaust, or one that is quieter, with less hp gain.

Re: Will Dynomat Help supress loud exhausts?? (samagon)
The issue is that I'm turbod, and I pretty much have to have a 3", unless I want to do the ecutout-- which is what i'm trying to do right now, but not having much luck, so i'm thinking, an added 50-60lbs in the rear, is only like 20lbs more than having the entire spare+ everything. I'd rather have a quiet interior and a mean *** exhaust, then a weak exhaust but equally quiet, less horsepowerd car.

definately not an issue with weight then, if you just had an exhaust and nothing else, then it would be pretty much a wash, but since you are turboed, and opening up the exhaust gives you less lag + more than 5whp def. put the dynomat in the trunk, it will make a difference.

i put about 50 sq. ft. of Brown Bread (better than Dynomat) in my car and it weighed less than 20 lbs. and it did quiet the exhaust a little bit and changed it's note.

This was when i had my N1. It didn't make it a whole lot quieter and it changed the pitch of the exhaust, kinda weird. If you want to make it quieter, try using something like carpet padding behind your interior panels and some more under your spare tire cover board.
