Will a B20 swap pass smog

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
Since the B20 is considered a light-truck engine and the Integra is considered a passenger car, the answer would appear to be no.
You can read the details on BAR's website for yourself:

Particularly, see the first three Sections of that page.

No longer true. Call the BAR to confirm the details, but the B20 is now an approved swap. You'll need to carry over all of the Integra emissions and manifolding, so you'll be swapping in just the long block.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
I just got off the phone with the "California bureau of automotive repair " spoke with the referee he said I can swap in the B20 as long as I use all the b18 emissions parts, manifolds, sensors, etc. So just the block. And before smog check the OBD II needs to be set to ready. So now I need to figure that out.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
That's easier than you think. The B20 is externally identical to the B18, so the swap is exactly the same as putting in a new B18 long block.
As for the drive cycle, just drive it a round normally for a few days before getting tested. The smog shops won't charge you and will just tell you to come back of all of your readiness monitors are not set.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the gas tank is between 3/4 and 1/4 full. The EVAP monitor tests will not run (and thus cannot report "Ready") unless the gas level is in that range.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
I put a B20B in my 95 Special Edition. Straight swap, no after market parts, stock cat/exhaust. Passed smog without issues. If you have a guy that knows what to look for like the B20B stamp on the short block they might fail inspection but as far as the readings go it will pass no problem.

Hi I need some help with my swap so as far as swapping over all emissions what does that consist of? My car is a 94 integra with a ls motor so obd1. I swapped over dizzy, intake manifold. Question is my manifold doesn't have the vacuum pipe to accept the center hose that cones from the valve cover? Is there a certain year manifold to use?

In other words, can I use all the OBD1 Integra emissions equipment and an obd1 computer with any b20 and pass?

That makes my life so much easier/happier/better. B20 is the right price per potential to me. As long as I can use all the obd1 emissions parts to pass I think my swap will be pretty straightforward.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
Yea the reason this thread was talking about OBD2 stuff was because his car was an OBD2 car. Basically, you're just swapping you Integra intake manifold/throttle body/air intakearm and everything that's plugged into them such as all of the vacuum lines, hoses, sensors and all of that. You put all of that onto the rest of the B20 engine and there you go. And of course if you're trying to pass emissions and such, make sure your O2 sensor is working right, catalytic converter's good, and charcoal canister as well. Pay attention to how the vacuum lines are hooked up and redo them exactly as they were once you put it all back together on the B20 engine.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
I’m trying this on a obd2 integra. But in Ontario. I have two 98 integra’s and they changed there rules one month after I got a turbo 98(obd2) integra. So now I have to make a 98 integra b20v turbo pass on a obd2 ecu. I have to convert it back to stock computer for them to plug in and test ready codes. If anyone has any input I’m glad to hear it thanks. For the test I have a obd2 p72 stock ecu and stock injectors. I need a o2 for sure and see if I do have a canister.

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
I've seen and heard this working for some, but never in person, only online. Whenever we had this issue in NJ we kept a stock ls computer, ebay ueader, stock injectors off to the side ... Swapped everything out every two years and back .Took two of us but we got it done in 2 days more than once on a few cars...Gl

Re: Will a B20 swap pass smog
yeah im just worried since it’s turbo that something might screw up. Just gonna change injectors back to stock I have a stock p72 obd2 and will have to put a secondary o2 in and see how that goes if I can drive it to get the ready codes and probably fix the other codes might come up. Stupid me got a p72 with a knock board but I think I can have two codes not ready
