Venom 400
My girlfriend wants to get a Venom 400 for her 97 Maxima (I know the site is Honda-tech, but I like you guys and don't know the address for Nissan-tech). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has or has had one. Are they reliable? Also, I heard that as far as bang for the buck they would be better off on something like a Nissan because Honda factory tunes their engines very well to begin with. So, basically I'm just asking about the Venom 400 on a non-specific engine basis. Do any of you think that it is worth my $350 to buy this for my girlfriend, or any car for that matter?
Also, is it just plug and play, or will I have to take it somewhere? TIA

Re: Venom 400 (Stu)
I don't personally have the Venom 400 but my friend does on his 91 Prelude. With the Venom 400 you can deffinetlly tell the difference in power than without. We onluy raced when my Integra was stock, without it on I passed him with in the itersection, with it on it probably took a good 100 or so feet to get a full car legth ahead of him. Its also nice cause you can turn it off and on, with it on your gas mileage will go way down. And as for bang for your buck, Im not sure what all you can get for Maximas, but on my friends prelude it helped the most peformance wise than anything else he had(DC header, Ice Man Intake, custom 2 1/4" exhust with A'pex Muffler, MSD ignition and lightened fly wheel) as you can see he has about everything available for the 3g Prelude. Its up to you if you want to spend the $350, if you do, I don't think you will be dissapointed.

Re: Venom 400 (BLK94RS)
I had it on my old automatic integra RS, and all it does is change the sensor outputs from the throttle position sensor and map sensor to the ECU. For the auto, all it did was make the car downshift easier (less throttle necessary to get the car to downshift). Other than that, I observed almost no extra performance from the toy. A waste of $400 in my book.

Re: Venom 400 (dustin)
Thanks guys, I will keep both of your points in mind. I don't think that my girlfriend will like the less gas milage thing.
If anyone else has used the Venom 400 or heard anything, please let me know because her birthday is October 12.
Also, what about the JET computer stuff? I heard that those are not plug and play but are hard wired in.

Re: Venom 400 (GSRacer)
In my Summit Racing catalouge(how the hell do you spell that), it says that it improves the most between 2000 and 5000 rpms, which is really where it is needed anyway. IMO
