Type R hatch to a regular integra hatch?
I have heard many myths and legends about the type R hatch being a little bit lighter then the integra hatch because it has a thinner glass and all sorts of other urban legends, but I was just wondering if anyone knows for a FACT the differences in the two.
Thanks
Thanks

Compare the ITR to the LS hatch glass. The part numbers for the 98, 00-01 cars are the same (73201-ST7-A01). (The '97 real glass may be different with p/n 73201-ST7-R01.) The front windshied was rumored to be thinner. It also is the same as other Integras (73111-ST7-A01).

Type R = no sunroof/moonroof
What about each's motor? think there is any difference in weight between the 3?

How did we go from the hatch to the roof? The ITR ('97 at least) had the rear wiper removed to save a little weight.

Correct, theres no hole in the glass on a 97 for the rear wiper.

So the '97 USDM ITR has no plugged hole in the glass for the missing wiper. That would explain the unique p/n for the glass.

I drive an 1997 Type R and can verify this as being true. Everything is exactly the same minus the hole. Even the underside of the hatch, the inside plastic interior pieces has all the buldging to accept a rear wiper motor.
As far as weight, massly produced cars and Honda is a prime example, cut costs by using as much as the same stuff as possible. I don't know for a fact, but the part numbers show that the rear hatches are one and the same.

Good information.
The '97 ITR Helm Supplement makes no mention of a lightened hatch. The only body modifications added weight to stiffen the structure.

Re: Type R hatch to a regular integra hatch? (ITR#132)
Is that what you want to do? Add a Type R Glass to your Gsr? It was a wasted of money ,trust me. I didn't get to finish it. Just go get a Carbon Fiber Hatch and paint it. Thats weight reduction.

Re: Type R hatch to a regular integra hatch? (SILVER2K1GSR)
As far as curb weight goes, The RS is the lightest, followed by the Type R, the GS, LS, and the heaviest of all the GSR.
This is for the 3rd gen 2 doors only.
