Too lazy to step on the clutch when you start? What happens if you left it in gear on accident? I'd keep it if I was you.

yea.. ppl who upgrade their alarm want it.. reason is becuase they probably be to tired and just remote start to warm up their car instead of walking out the house and start it..

turbo car do that most of the time

Well, yeah, but usually that's all covered in the directions. So his reasoning I wouldn't assume is for getting an alarm...? I could be wrong, it's happened before in the past (I have a girlfriend)

I would have thought they'd cover how to do it in the directions.

I never said anything was wrong with it for that purpose. But if you don't have remote start or anything, I don't see a point in it.

As for me, I could just see my sister or girlfriend getting in it, joking,a nd turning the key while it's in gear. I've even started it while it's in gear before...had forgotten it was in gear, and when I went to drop the clutch back down, it started to take off. I'm just glad I was in it to catch it.

my auto to manual swap allows me to do this cause i still have auto ecu in. no clutch safety switch. i just have to make sure the old shift thingy *what the auto shift **** is connected to thats wired to ecu* is in park so it can start. its not fun when your to drunk to remember but fun if you want someone to drive your car and pay for a new frontend.

See, my friends are broke and I'd have two choices....A) pay for the front myself or B) wait 8 months for them to get around to getting me a new one...

BUT! You shouldn't be drinking and driving anyways...I know I don't want my car wrecked cuz of someone else drinking and driving whether their driving my car, or someone elses.

isn't it just some little button down near the clutch pedal?

if you're looking to get a remote start just get one that is for manual cars. There is a clutch bypass, but the ones made for manuals also require that the car be in neutral and the e-brake is up

No disrespect intended, but you live in Downey. I can see remote warm-up if you lived in Canada or someplace really cold, but Downey? You should not need to wait more than 30 sec after a cold start in most of the LA basin for just about any day...

not really. you just need to warm up no matter where you live.. just for it to idle down..

turbo car you need to let it warm for a long period of time.

what?...so your saying i should just turn it on and just leave?..yeah and the oil all the way down, it has to go up and lubricate everything, it has to idle down...and every car has to warm up, period

I've heard it's unhealthy for an NA engine to just start up and run hard, but my stock engine has never had a problem when I started it up and just drove it...I just wait until the temp gauge is 3/4 of the way to normal before I get on it...that is...as much as you CAN get on a D15B2.

I say you should get up, go outside, start your car (so you know that by some freak chance you didn't leave it in gear), go back inside for a few minutes and finish getting ready, then leave.
I always leave my car in neutral, but one time I guess I was to tired to think and when I got home I couldn't get inside to go to bed fast enough. Next morning I started the car and went to "jiggle" the shifter and to my surprise found it in reverse. See now had I had remote start because I was to lazy to take 10 seconds out of my day to start my car with a key and hand. I would have jumped into a curb and a guide wire.
But hey, it's your car, and your money, do what you like. Just don't come on here crying about how you fucked your car up because you thought you always left it in gear. Just my 0.02

I've done something similar.

Hence why the alarm manufacturer's set an X and Y sensor. Unless the stick is fully out of gear, it won't turn over.

It's been discussed...bypass the relay.

We're just trying to look out for the better of him. It's a safety feature designed by car makers and installed for a reason. We're just trying to make certain he has an understanding of consequences if he happens to forget the procedure when he gets out of the car.
