Re: timing belt?? (csprague)
Originally, the factory recommended interval is 90k, but with a little R&D and the overall corporate money machine trying to make you feel like you get more out of your hard earned dollar, they bumped it to 105k. I wouldn't drive it a foot over 105k if that's when you decide to do it. I've seen them break as early as 120k and as late as 210k. It's just a crap shoot there. And hell yeah it's needed. If it breaks on you and you have a non-clearance engine (valves and pistons make contact when pistons are at TDC and valves are full open) like all B, D, H, F, K series engines, you are going to be paying for a lot more than just a new timing belt!

from what i have experienced, the d series, as far as the z6 goes, is "NOT" an interference motor. i had my belt broken before and all is well with a new belt. while the motor was down, i cranked it plenty and played with the cam gear spinning it all over and nothing happened. thats just my personal experience.

Re: (jbj-kustomz)
I changed mine on my B18 at about 180k. That was only after it finally broke. No bent valves or anything. Its also supposed to be an interefence motor and I got lucky.
