Default Takata Drift-2 harness w/ITR Recaro's. "review"

When I fist looked into getting these for my integra most of the stuff that came up was how do I get them to fit or stuff along those lines. So I'd like to give my input/experience with them so other who are interested can get an idea. 94 teg with jdm ITR Recaro' s I use this car as my DD until the late fall, you WILL loose your back seats there's no way around that also if you have long legs you'll be hard pressed to be able to reach the stereo controls or your GPS mounted on the window lol. as for comfort depending how you're body is "built" the side straps may cut into your neck(may) that can be fixed with some shoulder pads found cheap anywhere I don't use them. Now for the positives ! they hold you in your seat like crazy look awesome and adds a "track car feel" to a DD. install is a 3.5/10 difficulty only pita part will be taking the side paneling off to remove the old seat belts(optional) for the anchor bolts you use the ones that come off the rear belt ones. over all for just under 200$ they add a nice feel and keep you snug in your seat and are a nice "extra" comfort is not really an issue you get used to it after a few days and they're street legal.
note: a harness bar is ideal when using these I have one on order but it does render the back are even more usless.

if any one has a question i'll happily answer or if you'd like to add something I missed.

Cool, race harnesses with out any sort of cage and probably mounted down to the floor.

Did you look into what can happen without doing it properly, or just didn't care?

Actually those takata belts are made to be mounted to the seatbelt mounts in the back seat or something like that. Thats why he says you lose your back seats.

I still dont like them. I can just imagine the damage they would do to your spine, even if they are mounted slightly better than straight to the floor

Takata Specifically says NOT to mount them to the floor I mounted them to where the rear seat buckles went and "criss crossed" them for good measure. You also missed the part where I have a harness bar on order(not a pos ebay one) Sparco. a full cage on a DD is even more dangerous then the harness !.

Oh, I definitely didn't miss the harness bar part. I just see that being as useless.

Maybe you can come up with a good theory(excuse) on why a harness is needed for a street car.

The OP's thread is based on a review of the product. We are not here to question why he has them in his DD. Keep it on track fellers.

And to the OP, Thanks for taking the time to review the product. And thanks also for furthering your research as to ordering a harness bar for proper installation. I myself have a Sparco harness bar and have no complaints with it. Good Luck, and please post an updated picture with the bar in.

Because I have a bone stock 04 ES1 that I can use if I need to travel more then 30 mins lol. I drive this thing 12 mins to school everyday and back so that's what I mean as DD. harness bar is back ordered so I'm in the dark for now.

to add these things are a serious pain in the *** so I HIGHLY recommend to anyone thinking about buying these if you really do use the car for everyday use skip over them they're neat looking and all but make for a real hassle to do basic things in the car. and aren't willing to get a proper bar for them it's no safe them the good old OEM 3pt belt.

also it's rather awkward if you go to kiss your date/GF and have to unbuckle your belt before you get to their stop first hand experience with that situation

I was just skimming the forum and this thread caught my eye as I was looking into these harnesses.

I then read your comment here, sir, and have noticed lots of these type of comments in the past all over H-T. If you looked at Takata's site they have plenty of diagrams and explanations on how to mount harnesses. But you're probably aware. So I just did a quick google search, "harness restraints in street car" and found an interesting read:

If you have time to read this or even see my post, what are your thoughts/arguments?

http://www.takataracing.com/products/drift-ii-bolt

These harnesses are street legal and are recommended to be mounted just as the OP has them OR wrapped around a harness bar. Harnesses with a cam lock are NOT street legal.

I don't see any discrepancies here.
