Starter only works half the time? i can start it by touching the + and - together
HALF the time i turn the key and nothing happens then when i let go of the key u can hear a "click" in the starter and it wont start then SOMETIMES IF U TRY AGAIN AND AGIAN IT will start. so i usaully have to pop the hood and use pliars and touch the power the the ground on the starter to start it which im guessing is really bad for the car lol. anyone know whats happening? the same thing happened with the last one a had (i bought another used one). so i guess they could both be bad cause there both used but what a weird thing to happen, anyone know whats wrong? oh and the starter ground is on tight and the power is tightend down good. its a 1990 integra b18a1

Maybe thats it. however, you should check the ignition, starter relay and wiring involved. You already know the starter works so test and inspect what I just mentioned.

Just to be clear, you did not touch the power to the ground, [on the starter] that would be a dead short.
What you did was a "bypass jump", supplied power directly to the starter solenoids exciter lead terminal, [starter lead terminal].
As has been mentioned check your ign. switch, [starter lead output] and the starter relay, [A/T gear position switch if it's an automatic] and CIS .
You say you hear a click from under the dash when you release the ign. key form the start position, do you not hear the click when you turn the ign. key to the start position? 94
PS What is the MM&Y of the car, also is it an auto or 5 speed?
