Default Should I keep my Teg or Not?

I have a 1994 Thundergrey DC4 with like 166K on the clock and still runs strong. My struts are starting to go and need to be replaced. My oil pan is also leaking from the pan itself not the gasket. My front valence is also hanging and still hangs if zip tied, so it needs to be replaced to. The cost to get all of this replaced is like $1200-1500 from the dealer and local shops. My car is only worth like $3000. I like my teg but My parents have given me the choice of either I have to pay for the work on my teg or I have to sell it and they might get me an '05 Civic and I might have to put some money towards the civic.

Would you pay for the work on the teg and keep it or get a new civic?

Please give comments/opinions.

Thanks H-T

keep the teg, and feel good that your parents didn't have to buy a car for you....especially if you like working on hondas.......you're going to get bored with the 05 civic quick.
keep the teg

Keep the integra. Wait it out. When the new 06 civic si hit the lot, tell your parents that now you want the civic.
I'll take the 200hp w/ lsd civic over the integra any day.

If your struts are going, it sounds like the perfect time for a suspension upgrade! Just think of it like that. Plus the current generation civic is fugly.

For one those are chick cars, I don't know one guy that drives one of those.
And do you really want your parents to buy you a car, when parents buy you stuff, they will always be telling you what to do.

Your car is an easy fix, learn something, have fun, rock the teggy!

are you chin's friend, james?

i say keep the teg and fix it yourself..if you do most of the repairs yourself it'll be a LOT cheaper..unless your parents are willing to buy you something besides a civic, i've been contemplating the thought of selling my teg for something a bit more luxurious (used car of course)

I also say keep the teg and fix it. Do a search for the parts on the internet and fix it. I personally would fix it and I think you car will be worth more fixed all up than $3000. You will have the satisfaction of saying you fixed it yourself and pay for the car yourself. I personally think you will have more respect for the car if it is all yours instead of your parents buying the new car. Have them help you mod it or something.

james, dont you have a few struts/springs/suspension components laying around in your garage? chin told me about the neuspeeds that you recently got, sell out a few of your sets of springs and you'll have the money for some new struts..

the bumper i couldnt really tell was sagging at the tapioca meet, and PM me about your oil pan, i may know somebody who can do it for a pretty good price..

hope this helps,
Wade
