Default Shop hit something with my car

I took my car in to a local muffler shop to have them cut my dumptube and reweld it to reseat my wastegate on the manifold properly because there was a leak. I went to pick it back up this afternoon and there was a damn scrape on the passenger side of my bumper right on the headlight part where it molds around the headlight. There is paint missing and white paint(doesnt look like car paint) along with scratchs in the bumper, i know FOR SURE that I didn't do this, I mean I washed the damn car on sunday, I park next to a curb all day at work on monday(passenger side facing the curb), nobody at my work drives a white car. I went to school, it was in the school parking lot facing other cars(not facing where other cars drive) with a friend(red car) parked right next to me, took the car durring 3rd period, picked it up after 5th. I also showed them what needed to be done from the front of the car before I left, there is no way in hell I couldve missed this scrape when i was right next to it.

They guys that worked on it claimed it didnt happen in their shop, it was moved 15 feet at most, and they say nobody was on that side of the car. On top of all this THE LEAK IS WORSE THEN IT WAS BEFORE!

My question, what the hell can I do to prove these guys did it?! I have to call back later and talk to the manager cause he wasnt there but, what the hell can I do other then tell them all this? Is there anyway to MAKE them pay, I am 100% sure that this was not there before I took it in. The car is freshly painted this time last year, so I am extremely pissed off that this has happened, and there is no way I couldve been this careless to **** up a brand new paintjob so soon.

Will do thx for the advice, and I know FOR SURE that I didn't do this, my parents even saw the car yesterday when I came home from work(park front end hanging over the curb, no way a car couldve hit it in the night). I just hope the manager isnt as much of a dick as the guys who worked on my car were. Found out later that one of them messed with my manual boost controller(mounted under the hood), they upped it to 14psi... ******* bastards, on top of all this, the leak wasnt fixed because they didnt listen to me, I asked them to run a gasket between the wastegate and dump tube, BUT NOT between the manifold and wastegate, I pointed it out to the guy where I wanted one and didnt want one before leaving it there, he said ok. THEY DID IT THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF HOW I SAID! I swear... I can't believe this shop did this... the guys were so cool when I took it to them the 1st time and had them mount the intercooler and make my downpipe, every visit since has SUCKED. You should see the wonderful welding they did, in fact, i'll post a picture.

The black parts on the left is actually where the paint is missing, not rubber on the paint.

I had my car in the shop for 2 months getting some custom fab work done to it and when I picked it up BOTH covers were damaged. The front cover had scratches from someone bumping a curb or parking block and the rear cover was pushed in like it was backed into something... I was LIVID when I seen it. I went to an attorney to see what I could do about it (as well as the extremely shitty work that I was over-charged for) and he said that since I couldn't prove that the damage wasn't there before I left it at the shop there wasn't much I could do... it's my word vs. there word and it's not worth the gamble to take it to court and risk losing more then it would cost to just fix the damn thing... talk about pissed.

That's my experience, hope it helps you out.

Thats gonna cost you 250 bones to refinish the whole front bumper rite thuR. You can prolly threatin to sue them and they will most likely settle with you. If they dont settle, you must sue.

Best thing to do is talk to a lawyer. Shops carry liability insurance for this type of sh*t. The sh*tty thing is, you loose either way, cause lawyer fees would prolly rape you in the end.

Gud luck.

find the guys who touched your car, wait to see what they drive and the ones that have the best paint jobs take a key or your foot too.

you did not say what shop did this. was it a national chain shop like house of mufflers and brakes or was it a strictly local shop? if it was a national chain or even a franchise get ahold of the franchise/regional manager and very patiently explain what happened. be firm. and near the end of the call when they are trying to give you the brush off explain to them that the call is being recorded. that usually perks them right up. do not back down in any case. i dated a woman who was a professional moderator in these types of things. she got great results. doing just that. do not be afraid to speak to the owner. they are just some schmuck who wants the problem to go away.

cliffs: call up and ask for the boss and dont be a dick.

Small claims court covers up to $5000 in damages and costs only $22 to file the papers. Also you SHOULD call the Better Business Bureau in your area to report this business to them. More and more businesses are becoming like this nowadays because people don't stick up for their rights.

no ****.. and it looks like they used 20lbs of metal to weld that damn pipe too..

**** them up man, give them hell..

have them prove to you that it wasnt there when you dropped off the car..

did they by any chance do a walk around the car to see how it was "as is" and write this down on a sheet? also.. what i do before i take my car anywhere.. is take pictures of every corner and angle on my car so i have proof that my **** is "as is" instead of them claiming that it was already on there, if it wasnt before i took it to them..

good luck tho

take a buddy with you and fall down in the shop from some "OIL" and then get a lawyer and you buddy was a witness that he saw you fall and, contact an attorney then he will have a feild day, or just tell them to fix it or you will sue them for mentall anguish if it disturbs you then you have mental anguish and the judge will more than likely side with you. either one will work good.
