Perfomance Fuel Pump On Stock Engine?
Searching didn't yield much. Here's what I'm working with:
91 DA9 with JDM B18B swap. Still OBD-0, soon to be changed to OBD-1 The engine has an XS-Performance intake manifold, stock throttle body, stock OBD-0 injectors.
I'm currently experiencing a issue I believe to be fuel related. I still have more diagnosis to do, but I'm suspecting my fuel pump. I plan to turbo this car by next year, so if I need to replace the fuel pump I'd prefer to buy one I can use for a boosted engine.
So my question is this, can I run something like a Walbro 450 on a stock engine? Will my stock fuel pressure regulator handle the extra flow? I don't want to have to buy a stock replacement fuel pump, only to buy a performance one six month later.

I don't think a 450 is necessary unless you're going for an insane amount of HP but you should get an adjustable FPR to handle the excess flow.

Short answer is yes, if your replacing the fuel pump put is whatever you want, I agree a 450 is most likely more then you need but with an adjustable FPR it really make no difference.
I have a 94 RS that has a 75 shot ZEX system, I replaced my stock fuel pump with a "hi performance" Holly pump and an adjustable FPR, so on the street, [not spraying] I run stock pressure but when I auto cross I can crank up the pressure a little for better performance when I spray. 94
