Like he said...have you even checked to see if the fans are coming on?...that's the first thing you should've checked. when the car starts to over heat watch the fans...see what they do...let us know.

Re: Overheating issues...
I did a compression test today, here are the numbers 1-180, 2-180, 3-190, 4-190. I drove awhile today with the AC on and when I stopped the needle started going up. I know the fan doesnt come one when idleing.
Could the fan be shot?? There aren't any leaks. Or could the head be warped/cracked, or headgasket?

Re: Overheating issues...
the fan switch that is located on the thermostat housing... first thing i would do would be unplug it and put a paperclip in the plug to jump the fans to see if the fans turn on.. if they do then the next thing i would do is change the coolant fan switch that is right there on the thermostat housing located in the back of the block that goes to the lower radiator hose...its either a 22mm or 24mm

I jumped the switch on the thermostat housing and the fans when on, so I am confused on what switch I should replace, the one that I took out or a different one?

hey dude i had the same prob. when the car would sit at idle or low rpms the temp would start to creep up when rev up the engine the car would cool off. all it was is an air bubble in the system. where the top radiator hose goes into the head there is a little nut put water in the radiator open the nut untill it flows consistant then close it. thats all i had to do. i can send u a pic if ur still confused

If I had the AC on and the fans were running and it still overheated, when why would replacing the switch matter? Just curious.

If you took out the switch on the thermostat housing and inserted paper clip and the fan turn on then its the sensor. I had the exact same problem maybe 2 weeks ago when my fan would not turn on at idle. Swapped out the sensor on the thermostat housingand it was z'allll good. Fan turned on at idle and no more rising in the temp gauge.

Actually turning the AC on would make the car overheat quicker. The heater on the other hand would help.

Re: Overheating issues...
Well the parts store didnt have any switches so I jumped the fans with a paper clip until it gets in. I drove normally today and no overheating.

Re: Overheating issues...
Well I thought the problem was solved, but when I was sitting in traffic today it started to go up. It definitely was an improvement from before but still... I only have water in the radiator right now, no antifreeze, could that have something to do with it?

Since I am still having the problem, I am going to get a new rad cap, I am trying to avoid doing the headgasket until the last thing.

Re: Overheating problem...
Put on the OEM seals and took care of that problem. Hopefully I can start the head gasket this weekend. And also try a compression test.
One question though, if my head gasket is blown wouldn't I be smoking all the time, the only time it smoked is right after we changed the thermostat and added water? No smoke since then...

Also did a compression test, the numbers were 180, 180, 190, 190, would they be that good if the head gasket was blown?
