Default Oil on spark plugs.

So my tegs been sitting for a couple of months while I removed all the turbo parts and returned it to stock. I went to change the spark plugs and found oil in the number 1 spark plug hole, on the electrode and i could see some on the top of the piston. There was also oil in the number 4 spark plug hole and a very small amount on the electrode. Im sure the rings are good but I cant think of any other way oil could have gotten into the combustion chamber unless my valve seals are bad. Could there have possibly been so much oil in the spark plug hole that when I removed it the oil drained into the combustion chamber? Im guessing the seals at the bottom of the spark plug holes are bad since my valve cover gasket is new. Also it was tough to loosen the number one spark plug, which ive herd is common when oil is in the spark plug hole. I know this has been covered, but I havent found any good input and I was alarmed at the amount of oil in the number 1 hole. Watchu guys think??

buy a new valve cover gasket, replace the plug seals, make sure it's all clean when you put it back on, torque the valve cover correctly and i bet it goes away.

it could be your oil control ring on the piston ... which will give you a whole new set of problems ... i say you get a new valve cover gasket set and replace your spark plugs and see what happenes

Hows your headgasket? Are you leaking any oil from around there as well?

i have a suspicion about this also. take some pictures and get back to us. it doesnt really make sense that there would be oil in ONE cylinder and how it got on the plug doesnt make sense...

hang on, do you have oil on the pluig, or on the electrode?> if it's all over the electrode you have a whole nother issue. Oil on the plugs but not the electrode is almost certainly your valve cover gasket and plug seals, there really isn't anything else it could be. Oil will leak down the threads though, take pics of your plugs and post them. I mean internal failures will not put oil on the upper part of a plug. I just wonder if it's leaking down. If the top of your plugs are clean and it's all in the motor you could have valve guides, seals, piston rings, pistons themselves with ringland problems. A leakdown test would be a good start if this is the case, a good leakdown would tell you that you most likely have valve guide or seal issues.

thanks for the responses, I have a brand new valve cover and head gasket, although the spark plug seals are old. I striped a nut on my valve cover so gimme some time to post some pics. Also the car ran fine before it sat no blueish smoke coming from the exhaust so i dont think its the oil ring.

Old spark plug seals, the fel pro valve cover kits should come with new everything. Change those spark plug o rings !! when they get old and hard oil moves right past them.

I had the same exact problem in my gsr, same plug and everything it was the plug grommets under the valve cover. I changed them and problem solved, that's probably the easiest thing that could be causing your problem to check/replace anyways
