Need help with my swap
Setup:
88 CRX
B18C fresh rebuild w/Type-R internals
OBD1 swap, distributor/stock GSR ECU
GSR high impedance injectors
Injector resistor box removed
What I'm seeing so far:
The car is turning over, but won't keep rolling. I get loud pops out the exhaust from unburnt fuel every once in a while. If I feather the butterfly valve on the side of the intake manifold while having someone keep cranking it almost seems like it wants to start.
Injectors measuring 11.2-ish resistance
Fuel pressure is at 42 (adjustable FPR)
Getting spark on all 4 cylinders
Looks to be a decent amount of fuel in the cylinders when I remove a plug.
There is gas on my spark plugs.
I converted down to OBD0 to a CRX ECU chipped with Type-R map & OBD0 distributor, tested working condition and am seeing the same with this setup.
What should I check? I'm kinda scratching my head.

Re: Need help with my swap
try decreasing fuel pressure, it would be better to run lean when trying to get it running rather than rich, you can use starter fluid too to help it along, just make sure you dont have any fuel leaks and all of your vaccumm lines have a home

Re: Need help with my swap
I've been testing my fuel pressure by plugging the gauge into the top of the fuel filter, is this a good way to get a reading? Going to drop the fuel pressure and see what i get.

dropped the fuel pressure, same thing. It almost seems like timing is off, but everything is on. The plugs have gas on them, but all are getting spark. Verified main relay to be ok, also verified distributor wiring to be spot on. Any ideas anyone?

try advancing or retarding your distributor? either your plugs are not ignitting at the right time or your simply getting to much fuel..

That happened to me the first time I did a swap, same thing you"re describing. Turns out I had 2 spark plug wires reversed. I figured it out by using an infrared thermometer pointed at my header, swapped the 2 colder ports and it fired right up. If I would have had the firing order available it would have made it easier.

yeah...deffinatley check firing order. i dont know how many times ive overlooked that before. also make sure your injectors are pulsing and not just constantly pouring.
