just picked up a type r dash with cluster and climate control for super cheap and im wondering if anyone has done this ive searched the site and no luck, curious if this is gonna be a pain in the *** or if i need any special tools to do it thanks in advance

type-r usdm or typ-r jdm... because a jdm type-r dash is going to be right hand drive and involve a lot more work than just the usdm type-r dash, if you want help you have to be more specific.

should be plug and play...only problems you might run into if it's obd2 into obd1 is the airbags and maybe gauges. other than that it's pretty simple to take a dash out, there are some tight squeezes and your hands and arms take a beating, but you don't really need any special tools. It's easiest to unhook the battery, remove the airbag and steering wheel to give you room there. There are plugs that go to the fuse box you have to take out... a ground near the center console/cig lighter/radio area...a bolt behind the clock...other than that it's pretty simple. Just a matter of finding the bolts and screws, then removing them.

my cars obd1 im not sure what the dash is, but thanks thats pretty helpful glad its not gonna be that bad, still cant believe i picked up an itr dash for 50 bucks

the dash is gonna fit, and the climate control is going to just bolt up. but on the cluster, however, you're going to do some work...

there's a write-up about making the ITR gague cluster to work on non-ITR.

basically, you swap the non-ITR green film that's on the back of the cluster to the ITR.

well come to find out he doesnt have the cluster or clock so im just gonna use my ls ones since i changed the bulbs in both to amber it should match

Is your current dash tan or something? i dont see why you would be swaping the whole dash unless it was

um, id say to make yuour life easier, keep yuour ls cluster. theres a different harness between ls and gsr/R. FYI, removing dash is a one person job, installig dash is much easier with two people. Search tan to black interior for instructions.

my dash is already black but all my vents and climate control are busted to **** and so i was just gonna buy a climate control and someone offered to sell me the entire type r dash for fifty dollars, so i say **** it when i sell it if i ever do lil price increas i know the itr dash is hella expensive and i think it looks good with cf and stuff

ls and itr dashes are the same. just the center console and driver vent are different. but if you bought that for 50bux then its a good deal cuz the cf center console is worth bout 150bux. plus, most likely itr dash was stolen if you got it for that cheap. so be careful.

ITR dash is no different than LS or GSR dash. The only thing that makes it ITR is the faux carbon parts that ITR has (climate control, vent, shifter surround, ashtray, cup holder).

i know its not stolen, dude had the totaled itr sitting in his drive way and was trying to part it out before he moves

Well, if you have a black dash like stated above just switch out all the vents,cluster, and CC. Take ya about an hour. Now if you switched the whole dash it take much longer.

I said an about an hour since the CC took me for ever since there was no slack in wires behind it so it was hard to stuff my had behind the CC.

ended up doing the whole dash cause mine had some flaws and this itr one didnt but it only took me three hours to do the whole thing so it wasnt that bad thanks for the help guys no cluster and no ashtray kinda gay but i changed the cluster bulbs to amber so everyything matches
