I think the my factory head unit died - thoughts?
I have a '95 GS-R. Its been broken into 3 times over the past two years of owning it. So I've got the original 7 year old factory cassette head unit back in there (I'm thinking thugs don't want a factory cassette deck). Its been beaten up a little bit (I had been using it as a pull out head unit for a couple months here and there - now its been securely mounted in the car).
This morning it wouldn't turn on. The red alarm light blinks which tells me its getting power. But you rotate the volume **** to turn it on and nothing happens. The cig. lighter still has power so the accessory fuse is working. The power antenna doesn't go up either, which tells me its more then just the radio LCD display not working.
Is it possible the factory head unit has its own onboard fuse? Or is the head unit toast?

I recall the factory headunit requiring a code to be keyed in before being operational. This is only requried if your radio is disconnected. Do you have they keycode for the headunit? Contact the dealer for the code if necessary.

No errors, no code.
I turn the radio on, nothing comes on - no display, no error, no beep, no antenna, nothing. The alarm light stops blinking when I the car accessories is powered on (as normally it would).
Yes, I have the code. No, the radio hasn't prompted me to put it in. It had been working the day before. This morning it just seems like it died.

ahhh! I think something was shorting it out - I pushed on the head unit and it slipped in a little and came right on. Whew!
