Re: Hypothetical question, what would you rather have?
I chose the ITR. I'd have that b*tch on the touge or track every chance I got!
Sure, you can do a whole lot to that LS for 10K, but is it really going to trump the ITR? Stock ITR vs. Built-to-the-teeth LS might be a decent match, but what happens when you put some nice tires, brakes, and a little more power into that ITR?
The ITR is a purpose-built performance machine. The LS is a sporty car with the potential to be quick.

for 10k you can build an ls that will beat the **** out of a type r in every category.or you can search craigslist for a Type R thats already modded, has anyone brought up the insurance prices that go along with driving an R?

Dudes, this is a HYPOTHETICAL question. I know there are a million different ways to go about building a fast car, that's why we do what we do. This was just an idea that popped into my head.

ITR + beater. If I was shopping for a car and came across a bone stock ITR, I'd have a hard time passing it up.

I would def not even think about it and get the ITR. Its the perfect car as is. Yeh you might spend a lot of money but eventually when you run into some more funds you can modify your type r.

If I had the money for a Type R, I definately would not pass up on it. And I'd keep it stock. Its one of few cars that doesn't need to be modded for any reason.

Re: Hypothetical question, what would you rather have?
This is what I was thinking when I made the poll but now I'm not so sure. I love the ITR and I'm pretty sure the engineers that designed it have forgotten more about their cars than I will ever know, but 10k is a lot of money. The fact is that the ITR isn't THAT different from an LS. The structural differences can be be negated and, if taken up a level, can even surpass that of an ITR. You can make double ITRhp reliably with 10k and have plenty of ching left to get the car carving right. And what's better than an ITR? A car that handles like an ITR and has twice as much power.

Re: Hypothetical question, what would you rather have?
I would get the 120k mile LS or GSR, whatever. I wouldnt feel bad about modifying it, or be to picky about it.
I had a evo 9 mr, owned it since 2007 with 27k miles I bought it. drove 15k miles in 3 years. 10k of those miles were by my wife last year. I loved driving my 85 civic hatch, I was overly **** with my evo. no one was allowed to work on it besides me, never leaned up against it, neighbor pulled a gun on a guy looking in the window of it.
I parked it a block away from the building were I worked because it was a empty lot. etc, etc... I dont like being that overly protective with a vehicle. and the stress was melted when it finally left my house.

Type R for sure. It's beautiful stock, so no need to spend tons of money modding it, it's not as common, and it will retain its value better than the ls. Plus, unless you have two cars, its easier to DD something that you wouldn't be taking the time to invest $10k in.

Re: Hypothetical question, what would you rather have?
I probably wouldn't use it as my main form of transportation every day either, but I would surely get my use out of it. However, the OP did say that we are talking about cars that would be driven everyday, so the assumption was made that it would be a DD.

LS or GSR FTW whats the point in buying a car if you cant beat the **** outta of it i wouldnt want to even drive a car like the R you mentioned so what good is buying it to sit an look at it oooooh i got a type R whoopdie doo
if i was ever to break 10 grand on a car it prolly wouldnt be a honda and would be a hell of alot faster and RWD

LS, because eventually when you'll realized you just bought and over hyped Honda/Acura that is way over priced. Buy the LS, install whatever mods you want, drive circles around the R, and still have a pocket full of cash.
