Default Humming noise and water leak -> Getting Irritated

I'm starting to get irritated with this miserable weather and with my Teg. First of all, I get this water leak, by which I mean that when I drove through the carwas, I saw soapy water actually pouring from behind the passenger side dash, right behind the glove box. Today, I jump in and fire her up, and I get this wierd humming noise over the normal engine sound.

I know it's not the CAI whistle, because I have a stock intake with an OEM filter. I hear it at idle in neutral, and it gets louder the faster I go, with no relation to what gear I'm in or when I shift. I popped the hood and pulled on the throttle cable, and I localized it to the area around the intake box/ transmission/ distributor/exhaust manifold. I don't know what it is, and since the weather sucks, I can't really look at it more extensively.

Any thoughts anyone can offer would really be appreciated.
Thanks, Scott

Well i'm betting that the leak is from your heater core, as its the only thing inside the car that has coolant lines running to it, and the soap might've been residue on your carpets.

Pop the hood and look around to see if you can find where the sound's coming from. It might be your p/s pump, but iono, maybe a belt

Check it.

Not the heater core, it only leaks in the rain or if I wash the car. The soapy water was soapy on entering the car, so it's a leak from outside.

And if you read the first post, I did localize the sound. It's nowhere near the belts.

Gen 2? Thats what mine was doing. What happened to mine was this.

Water was getting into the fan assembly under there. Then leaking out from there between the fan assembly and condenser. The condenser has a drain hole in there so whatever goes in there leaks out into the engine bay at the bottom of the car. But there is only a foam strip between the fan and conderser box. The water is coming in from under the wiper cowl. I took the cowl off. Then took off the smaller cover that covers the fresh air hole. There are some screw hole that are directly over the fresh air hold. The water was getting in from there. I cleaned everything and dried it. Then laid down a bunch of silicone on where the small cover sits, and around the screw holes. Then I put the cover back on. Then filled the screw holes with silicone, and put the screws back in. Then put silicone around the entire edge of the cover, and around all those clips and such just in case those are leaking too. And put the cowl back on. As far as the fan assembly. Take that out and clean it out and dry it out. It will start to smell like mold and such if it stays wet. Then I put it back in and put a bunch of silicone between the fan and condenser gap. Also put silicone of my finger and put bunch around the back side. Put silicone on the metal bracket, and put the bracket back on. Then put silicone around the edge of the bracket. Now IF water gets in from under the smaller cowl, it SHOULDN'T leak out between the fan and condenser. It should go into the condenser and out into the engine bay.

My car no longer leaks and no longer smells like mildew and ****.

hey GTscott and 91jdm,
where was the water coming out from? I have a similar problem, but mine is a very slow leak coming from the firewall somewhere into the passenger compartment right behind the ECU. (BTW: It's an EK) It takes a while for the water to appear...maybe like a minute, then I can see water slowy trickling down on the wall behind the ECU. it's not gushing out either. Slowly but surely....and it leaks for prolong periods, even after I stopped spraying the windshield with water, it still leaked for like 10-15 minutes after. What the hell is going on? Do i have the same problem as you guys?

I am going to silicone the hell outta my windshield, cause if I look where the bottom portion of glass meets the area near the seal, there is some fat gaps. All along to bottom edge...is this normal? Doesnt leak on the driver side...(i hope). so I really dont know if thats the problem....

Thanks guys....as of now my carpet is drying and is LYSOL'd the hell up.

The water from mine was coming out of the fan assembly, between the fan and the condensor box. Not sure what you got going on.

Yeah, jl21ah, that sounds like what I've got. It usually just trickles, unless I go through a car wash (don't worry, it's touchless ). I haven't looked at the firewall yet, but I've got a tube of silicone standing by. Good luck with yours.

UPDATE

Over the weekend, I found the source of my leak. after taking my glove box, fan assembly and various other **** out, the leak was found to be a mistake on Honda's part. I found that the water was slowly leaking down just above and behind the fan assembly, kinda where fresh air enters... the weld or whatever honda used to seal up the metal up there had a hole in it. Either something ate through it, or honda didnt weld right. After siliconing the hell outta the hole...I no longer leak . Sucks cause I siliconed a lot of other **** like my windshield for no apparent reason. The water would slowly leak down to behind the ecu...and make finally to it's final destination of my cot damn carpet, where mildew and mold grew, and caused me to go freaking insane breathing mold along with all the lysol i sprayed to try to kill it.

bleh, too much work for something that shoulda been right in the first place, soooooo gay...
