Haunted Car! Car tries to start without key?!?
I've tried searching for this issue, with no luck. I've been experiencing starting issues with my stock 94 Integra LS (auto). Specifically, the car wouldn't turn over, so I replaced the battery. That seemed to help for a week or two. Next, the car again wouldn't turn over. This time, I retried several times, and the car finally tried to start, but still wouldn't turn over, and then wouldn't stop. I turned the key off, and the car engine kept trying to engage. I even removed the key, and the engine was still turning over, without starting. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it.
To resolve this, I've replaced the ignition, and had the starter tested, which tested OK. I have a fairly new distributor and ECU, new battery, fairly new plugs and wires, timing belt, O2 sensor, Map sensor, fuel filter and fuel pump!!! A quick wire inspection looks OK. I haven't checked (or re-soldered) the main relay. That's next. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The starter solenoid is most likely at fault. The ignition simply sends it a signal and the solnoid switched the high current for the starter.

No, no remote starter switch. Also, thanks for the solenoid tip. But, to pardon my ignorance, does this still mean replacing the starter? No way to just replace the solenoid? Thanks again.

no way to replace just the solenoid on the newer starters like ours...
just replace the starter and that will solve your problem...
i had the same problem on one of my old cars.. i actually had to drive it with the starter still trying to start the engine from where i was to my house because i had no tools to disconnect the battery...

Thanks Guys! It was the solenoid. Picked up a new starter, put it on, and now my Integra starts OK... To cool...
