Default GSR HALF SHAFT PROBLEM ON TRANNY SIDE

i just rebuilt my friends gsr and we reused the tranny he had and his axles were replaced recently.. car runs great but the half shaft on the tranny side wont lock in all the way.. when you look in the hole there looks like a shaft or pin that sits right behind the splines were the half shaft goes so it makes the axles not go in all the way.. it just hits it and stops.. it looks like it spins w the splines.. the half shaft needs to go in about another 1/4in.. ive replaced these many times before and have never seen this issue.. please can someone help me out..

The 'shaft' you're seeing in the transmission is normal.. I don't know the technical term for it, but stock/non-LSD differentials have that.

Some times they're easy and just pop in, and some times you need to use a hammer on the end to get it to lock in. Try giving it a few good whacks and see if that helps.

that shaft is blocking it from goin in any further.. i already tried to hammer it in.. its right on the back side of the splines in the tranny but the axle needs to push in about a 1/4in more and it just butts into that piece and stops.. i cant get that piece to move

Are you sure you're using the correct half shaft?

yes its the right half shaft.. we used the same tranny andhalfshafts on the car that were on it before we rebuilt the block.. didnt take apart the tranny or anything.. for some reason it wont slide in all the way and when you look in the whole u can see a rod or pin in the way and i dont know how to move it
