Default friend's ABS light is coming on

ABS light comes on, pretty much, at random. when he shuts the car of and restarts it, it goes away.
any ideas what would be the cause/solution?

multiple number of problems

have your friend go to the dealer to see what's wrong

My ABS light used to always came on after my car warmed up.

So I took it to the dealer it check it, and it ended up being a sensor and a worn o-ring.

First thing he should do is see if he is low on brake fluid in the ABS reservoir. If that doesn't work then he needs to jump the service connector w/ a paper clip and see what code is flashing.

First thing you have to do is find the service connector, which is located under the dashboard by the glovebox. Look for the connector that has the black and brown wires coming from it. Its a 2-pin connector and you "jump it" by putting an end of a paper clip into each pin. Next turn the key onto the "ON" position. Now you have to read the flashes from the ABS light. A long flash is equal to 10 and a short flash is equal to 1. Say you have 3 long flashes and 2 short flashes, then your ABS code would be 32.

2 times has my ABS light came on

1. i didn't have shocks so i would bounce so much my abs light would come on.

2. i had a dress up kit on the abs wire. it was the stainless steel ropes. and when i had it i guess the ground of the car turned it on

I'm also having my abs light coming on occasionally as I start my car so I shut it off and then restart it and then stays off until the next time when it comes back again.

After using the service connector with the paper clip it is showing up as leakage in the accumulator. Estimate to replace- 600USD

I'm wondering now if it's alright to leave it since my conventional braking works or do I need to get it replaced? It's a safety issue so I'd rather not take any uneccessary risks but 600 bucks is steep.

I think I read on here that you can take the ABS assembly apart and replace the o-ring that is causing the leak. Do a search on here and you should be able to find the detailed instructions.

I had the problem with the ABS light coming on and staying on before. The dealer said it was brake fluid sensor and replaced it under warranty. Problem was solved.

Your service writer usually has some, and depending on how much you're spending they may give it to you for free.

On a serious note, is the thing leaking?? The ABS light on my car came one once and when i peeked under the hood, it had a slow leak. when I brought her to the dealer, they ended up replacing the whole ABS pump and actuator (or something like that) It cost about $1000 to repair, but the Acura rep gave me a break and gave me 50% off. It must be something that goes quite often on Hondas/Acuras because dealers usually don't keep $1000 parts in stock like mine did if they didn't.
