do I have factory driver side window glass?
I think the bodyshop screwed up on this one. I specified, and the bodyshop paid for, OEM factory Honda/Acura window glass to replace the one that broke when my car was hit. I notice that all the other side and rear glass on my car has a stamp something like this (also a couple of symbols with the text):
Temperlite
TP Asahi
M273 AS2
DOT-20
Now the other night I noticed that reflections in my new driver side window are extremely wavy, while reflections in all the other glass is very smooth and uniform. I also notice the following stamp on my driver side window in the lower corner:
DOT 509
AS2-M4-02
Made in USA
There are no symbols like on the other glass, just that text above. So do you think the shop tried to cut a corner and save some money by using some lesser quality aftermarket glass? I would like to know for sure before I call out the bodyshop on this.
*edit* another possibility is that replacement glass sold by Honda and Acura (such as something I might order from Carland Acura) is actually made by some manufacturer in the USA. Could this be true? Is there any way to get glass of the same quality as my original glass?
This might be nitpicking and all, but I think I deserve to have glass of the same quality as what was there before. Besides, seeing those wavy reflections in the glass really bugs me.

Both of my back windows read:
Temperlite
TP <> ASASHI
M273 AS2
DOT-20
My driverside rear window has been replaced. It was replaced at the same time is my driver side front window...
My front passenger side (never replaced to my knowledge):
Temperlite
TP <> ASASHI
M274 AS2
DOT-20
My front driver side has been replaced with a PPG window.

i think they replaced the glass with a nonuspec tempered glass...which means when it breaks it breaks is large pieces and will cut you or those in your car in the worst possible way...if the work was not done too long ago go back and let them know you want a solid tempered glass replacement for your car. for safety reasons and if they give you the runaround tell them you'll call a lawyer.

I'm afraid if I try to call out the bodyshop on this one, they might claim that they did order the glass from some Honda/Acura parts distributor. If it's true, and they did get the glass from an H/A distributor, then what would I do? That means the distributor would be selling non-OEM glass under the OEM part number.

i checked and older model hondas prior to 96 stock oem glass did not say solid tempered and they are!...the shop may have just given you and different finish oem glass...hence, the ripple effect or color. your ok and safe with the glass provided for you...it just doesnt match what you have...maybe you can exchange and let them know you want it to be the same finish.
btw if the glass has a DOT stamp on it your safe.

It's not the safety issue that concerns me, it's the fact that all the other glass on my car is nice and smooth, but this glass is all wavy. It just bugs me to death.
Also it's mainly the "Made in USA" stamped on there that leads me to believe it's not OEM.
