Default Clutch problem... :(

Just today, I noticed some symptons w/my clutch/transmission that are really worrying me. Any help on what might be the case would be appreciated.

Symptom 1:
When starting off in first, the car will kind of lurch or a lot of movement from the engine area will occur. The car shakes a bit.

Symptom 2:
It's hard to pull out of gears and into neutral.

Symptom 3:
It's hard to get into gear. I grinded several times today and had to try to rev match which only helped slightly.

Symptom 4:
When releasing the clutch, the pedal will stick for a split second before coming back up.

What's going on? I know my clutch isn't slipping/going out, I did several 5th gear pulls at low RPMs and the dealer said that the clutch was replaced just before I bought the car. It also grabbed when I gunned it and shifted to 2nd and 3rd.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My car came with an "Extended Service Plan" (dealer bought used car), will this type of problem be honored by that? One friend of mine is saying that I need new clutch fluid, another is saying that my Master or Slave Cylinder is outl. My car has 64k miles on it by the way. I got it with 63k.

Check the master cylinder. Look under your clutch pedal, at the rod going into the master cylinder and if you see any grease, oil or wetness on the piston, its bad. It should be dry. You can even bleed your clutch lines. Do the easy things first.

Does this mean that the clutch system is totally gone?

How would you go about fixing this problem? I have the same problem with my clutch, it sometimes sticks to the floor for a second and then pops up.

alfaaay, let me know what the dealer says about it.
Thanks

I'm new to hondas, but if your having syptoms such as excessive shaking and gears grinding, I would check motor/engine mounts. Sometimes this can cause some of those problems.

Is your pedal just sticking down? If it's only that, then you need some new clutch fluid (bleed the old fluid). Mine was a little more serious, the spring did pop out and the whole system needs to be replaced. It's an $850 job at the dealer. I'm getting shafted, I wanted an aftermarket clutch but can't risk ripping my tranny to pieces (my hookup would've had to order it and it'd take a while, and I need to drive) so I'm having it fixed by the dealer since that's where I brought it. wack sh*t man, good luck with your problem, hope it's not serious.

What do you mean by "bleeding the fluid"? Does that mean to drain the old clutch fluid and pour new fluid in it? Would this fix the problem?

Thanks

yeah. if the clutch fluid is a really dark color, then you know it needs to be replaced.

Kinda like bleeding the brakes. If you've never done that, its NOT just like draining & filling. You gotta pump out all the air bubbles.

Plain and simple, you need a new clutch.
My car was doing the exact same thing, one of the springs came out of the clutch disk and got wedged between the clutch and flywheel. I also flushed the clutch fluid and replaced it with new.
Now its just like new.

For 850$ you should be able to get a performance clutch installed. call around if thats what you want. I would also bitch to the dealer about that, you only put a thousand miles on and they had told you it was a new clutch. I would at least make them do the labor for free, or I wouldnt let them do the work and make more money off of me.
