Car intermintely shuts off while driving..PLEASE HELP !!!
So i purchased a 98 honda crv lx for winter. The car has a check engine light, which the owner told me it was a bad o2 sensor. So i figure no big deal, ill get it fix it later down the road. I get the car home and it intermintely shuts off while im driving. Which is pretty scary, ive had the car for 4 days and its shut off on me 6-7 times. Its not the battery or alternator. So im clueless on how to fix this. My brother think its gonna be a fuel problem such as pump, filter, regulator, etc...My question is will a bad o2 sensor cause this problem? i've drove a few cars with bad sensors in the past with no problems. When the car shuts off, sometimes it doesnt start up right away. I need to find a solution quick since this is my daily drive now since my car is in the shop. Im afraid of it dying on the freeway and i'll get into an accident. Im going to advance auto today to double check the code.
any thoughts?

an o2 sensor cant do that but if the catylitic converter is burning up then that can cause ur car to shut off.. but a clogged fuel pump/bad fuel pump will cause the problem as well ...pull the code see what it says

Could be a bad ignition switch or a bad main relay. And as mentioned above, check that CEL.

I would say a bad ignition switch. try moving the key back and forth while the car is running, usually a bad switch will act up when moving the key just the slightest bit

Main relay
Get that thing replaced and you'll be good to go. Exact same thing happened to me a few years back when I bought my car (except I wasn't getting the CEL).

so i took it to my mechanic who suggest its a bad ignition starter solenoid, and that it was going to cost me close to $500 for repair. So i do a lilttle research and find out the part is on recall from honda. So i made an appointment and the car goes into the dealer friday.
