A/C Oil Removal
From what I've gathered, A/C compressor oil can't be vacuumed out. What is the proper way of removing it then?
What are the consequences if too much oil is placed? It's hard to say how much oil is left when the A/C has not been in use for over 5 years now and has been leaking.
How do the A/C tech determine oil level?
Thanks.

oil?? you mean gas?
i know lots of people went to sleep during A/C remove project..rofl.
i think you just let them leak by pressing gas release thing with pen or something pointy.

from personal experience too much oil and the compressor surges. It'll run for awhile than shuts off. Usually it'll drain most of the oil out when you release the gas out of the system.

Refridgerant and oil are two different things, refridgerant can be vacuumed out, but the oil in the compressor requires removing the compressor, draining, then refilling with whatever oil is compatible with the refridgerant you plan on using. Also flush the system if changing oil/dessicant.
