Bad vibration after doing coilovers and alignment.
I just did my front end coilovers, wasn't able to do the back because the bolt in the control arm was siezed. Anyhow, while we were figureing out how to take it apart, we accidently pulled the CV joint out of place. We had ended up taking it out and put it back together and then place it back into the socket. We put everything back together, and did the passenger, front side with no problems at all, but I got a really wicked vibration now, even after an alignment. I looked under the car and it looks like the CV joint lost a lot of grease, so I know I have to get something done with that, but could that be the cause of the vibrations? Could it be because the front end is now sitting lower than the rear? Any help would be appreciated.

how long did it take to start vibrating? check your axle nut and make sure your axle snapped back in the transmission all the way. if it went a while without grease you might of ruined the cv joint

It started vibrating as soon as I started driving and hit about 40 mph, or that's when I could really feel it start to shake. It seems to calm down a bit when I hit about 60. It kinda goes away though if I let off the throttle and just ride. If it is the cv joint, how do I fix it? It looked like we put everything back together the way it should go, unless there is something special your suppose to do to it.

when you put the axle into the trans did you make sure it snapped in all the way there is a snap ring that has to lock in the trans. i usually put the axle in as far as i can then take the other in and push it toward the trans, sometimes you have to slighty pull the outer spline and then rapidly push it back in the trans when you feel it seat it will be snug and with little play. you also might of damaged the snap if you cant get it to snap in.

did you make sure the bearings were on the axle studs before inserting it back into tranny end axle hub? as far as i know theres no special way they have to go together as far as linear. since its come apart , and looks like its losing grease you say. as soon as dirt gets in , there screwed. regardless how long , it will be a matter of time before it clicks and is ruined. there only cheap , just go buy one and chalk it up as , make sure that dont happen next time , lol. it also sounds like wheel balancing issue. did you change wheels when you did this as well? just thought id ask.

Yup, I ruined it. I had to get another one, but I said expletive it and let a shop do it. I'm just gonna count this as a learning expieriance, although I think it was bad anyway, I just didn't expect to have to pay for it now. My torque steer is a lot better now, and it used to make a clunking sound when I went in reversed and braked, but it's gone now so I think that it was going bad to begin with. Owell.
