Default axle vibration

I just installed axles in my integra (90 LS). I replaced the passenger side first with no problem after driving. Then I installed the drivers side and now the car has a slight vibration under acceleration but is intermittent (that is sometimes its noticeable and sometimes not). The only thing I noticed different from the stock axle was the new one didn't have the round rubber piece on the shaft. Is this a balancer or a vibration dampener? I have an extra one laying around that I can put on, does it have to be at a certain spot on the axle?

I say try it. That rubber piece is a balancer.

holy crap, same damn thing happened to me when I put in a new axle, it had no thing around it, I was kinda pissed. I'm pretty sure that's why it vibrates but Autozone says that's the axle they show for this car

I went through 3 sets of rebuilt axles in a matter of months before finally getting a set that did not vibrate. I'm sure you just got a bad one (which seems to be pretty common among those CCT brand rebuilt axles). Take it back and get another one.

yeah well after about the 2nd or 3rd time changing both axles within a few weeks' time, it starts to get really old and you get pissed off and just want some axles that work.

Don't mean to bring back from the dead, but I'm having this same problem right now. I replaced my drivers side with NO problems. Just today I bought a new axle that had no balancer and on acceleration I have a little vibration. Tired all the pep boys and autozones around me and none have that damn dampner, any parts stores any of you guys know in the NJ area sell them with the balancer on them?? thanks

Just buy a used oem axle. I used to have the same problem with my old si and it drove me mad. I replaced the axle at least 4 times and didn't go away until I replaced the axle with a brand new oem axle.

Make sure you get it aligned after putting it all back together.
