Angled Exhaust Systems????
Why do i see so many EG Hatches with the angled muffler in the back? I dont get it?
I understand why they do it to the 88-91 Civic hatc because the 90 degree bend before the muffler but why on the hatch?
Just wondering.....

Ive got the Apexi N1 on a 93' EG.
I personally like the look of the angle, its just different from everyone elses straight-out design.
Also, apexi claims it helps on the performance side. In theory I suppose it makes sense (because there is less pipe). The pipe runs straight back, under the axle, and out. As opossed to running under, curving up over the axle, and then out.
We measured the difference in length between the N1 and stock, and it was only 3-4 inches shorter, I dont know if the length makes a diff. when put to a dyno, but apexi claims it does. I personally dont care, its a-hell-of-alot better than stock, Plus i think it looks nice.

It's to imitate exhausts like the RS*R ExMag GT2 that has the piping run straight down the middle of the chassis with only one bend to have the muffler exit under the cutout. Hence, that's why the muffler angles toward the passenger side of the car.
The reason i got mine is because its the free'est flowing exhaust for a civic hatch. and it mates up perfect to my AN-R header. I run no cat, no resonators. And no i have not gotten a single ticket or pulled over for the sound of the exhaust. i have been pulled over cause the car spit out a flame and a cop was behind me. but i did it for performance. just 1 minimal bend as you can see in the picture.

Hahaha sumthings not right if your exhaust is shooting flames.... but I agree I love the angled look. I didn't go with it tho, I'm cheap. Magnaflow

this is next on my list, im tired of the stock looking magnaflow
anyone know a company that makes a N1 style muffler, but not as long, looking for something that is not as long as the conventional apexi N1 catback

My old roomate had that exhaust on his 96 hatch. The sound and quality is amazing, not to mention the performance of it.

well heres a pic of my 93 hatch with a apexi n1 exhaust.

The angle is different compared to my old 5zigen but im thinking of switching it out to a straight out one like a spoon n1 because i like to roll dump =P

my car does that also sometimes right after u shift .. i think it has something to do with having no cat. cuz i run no cat str8 pipe all the way back from the header and i shoot flames sometimes there not huge or anything but at night very noticeable.
