No longer for sale, I have started to rebuild
UPDATED INFO FROM PERSON WHO SOLD IT TO ME
"I bought it as a jdm 97 ITR tranny with about 40k miles on it, from a guy in Orlando that I met through another TR member... Shortly after I bought it, the diff went... That was then replaced with a diff out of a friends GSR that replaced his with a Quaife... i believe the tranny he had was a 97 also and had about 50k on it...
I questioned the stamp on the case also because I thought all LSD trannies were stamped, and I was sent a link that I wish I still had... apparently those trannies were the same in the 97 jdm type R and SiR, and both had optional factory lsd, which is why the case isnt stamped... But I can tell you it did smoke the **** out of both tires the couple times out at the track before the diff went.... I made sure to investigate that after I bought it.... "
I bought this tranny from another member on Tampa Racing, but haven't had a chance to rebuild / use it. The following are his words describing to me the condition of the tranny:
"Like I said the diff has been replaced (I broke the LSD) and second and fifth gear grind at high rpms and third sometimes grinds when you downshift or try to shift too hard... in all gears if you shift it easy or let the rpms drop a little its ok..... it would be good for normal driving or autocross/road race but its drag racing days are done....."
Price is what I paid for it....$300.00
Original plans called for new synchros, a CTR FD and ITR limited slip diff.
PM or email me with any questions or if you would like to buy it.

Is it the (someone correct if I am wrong) J4D or M3E? The J4D is the 98 and up ITR tranny with 4.785 final drive came on JDM motors. Also, is the lsd that is currently in it broken??? I might be interested if it's either but even more interested if the price is right, and it's a 98 and up tranny

The open diff was put in by the previous owner when the original broke. Their is no VIN tag on it and doesn't appear to ever have been so that might indicate a JDM tranny.
All PM's replied to.

I'm still interested. If I procurred a car or got my other one running, I will come pick it up if the price is right and you still have it. It currently has an open diff in it? How hard was that to put in? I may just rebuild it myself. The M3E or J4D wouldn't be on the vin plate. It's usually stamped on the tranny itself somewhere (at least I think that's how all of them are?). I know my friends was, and I have seen others done the same way. Let me know what's up.

I did not change the diff out, the seller did before he sold it to me. There is no VIN plate that I could find on the casing when I initially looked it over. Nor is there any remnant of the rivets that are used to hold it on. Meaning to me that it is an older tranny (but doesn't look like it) or that it is a JDM version. I will look at it more closely tomorrow and see if I can't turn anything up as to it's identity. Right now it is still available. Price is $300.
I will get back tomorrow with some more details.

No on the $250 shipped. If you guys want, I'll pull it apart and count teeth, but I won't be putting it back together.
Seriously though, can you even buy a B-series tranny for $250 shipped ??
OK, when I say it needs to be rebuilt, that is what I was going to do. It grinds in 2nd and 5th and has an open diff. So, I was going to tear it down, replace all the bearings and seals (which is always a good idea), replace the worn synchros and change out the diff to the LSD I already have.
I am sure that it can be driven as is, just it's drag racing days are done.

The open diff that is in the tranny right now is what is included. I will be using my LSD to rebuild my Si tranny.
Origianlly I was going to use the tranny for sale for my Integra build-up, but I sold the car.

Maybe in Cali you can get a junk tranny that cheap, BUT THIS IS A WORKING TRANNY !!! It is NOT junk. And that offer is certainly not generous. It costs over $75 to ship a tranny to the other coast, and I would need to literally construct a box so that it will not be damaged on the trip.
There's cheap and then there is lowballing. You have done the latter.

First off I did not say your tranny was junk. I am saying, I am from the land of junk (AKA) Anything Honda related off the boat from japan. Second your tranny has way too many problems going rate for a LSD tranny especially a 1997 with no 4.78 final on the west coast is $900. Third there could be many many more problems with your tranny you do not know of or are aware of. Good luck on your sale cause your going to need it. By the way you can ship it through your local acura dealer.

The buyer who sold me this tranny is a very trustworthy individual and has many vouches and friend's from my neck of the woods. So when he tells me the problems it has are limited to the grinding and LSD, I believe him. And I will stand behind it if it sells here.
And while $900 is a great price for a tranny over on the West Coast, I really believe that you could still build this one up for less.
Anyway thanks for the bump.
