hahaha, thats just for cleaning the windows, to get the water marks off is a longer process. Can't remember 100% because I haven't personally had to do it to a car at work but my manager has. He used steal wool and window cleaner and jsut went to town. Its not complicated just VERY time consuming and tedious.

I found an ACID based window cleaner, can't remember what percentage it was, but it took ALL of the water stains off the glass. Just don't get it on any rubber or paint, oh...and the cloth that you use to apply it wiht will be decayed in about 12 hours, so be careful...it's good ****!
go to checkers, they sell this diamond polish for that exact use. works wonders. has diamond chips in there or something.

any chemical that greatly and safely reduces the effort of like 6 hours scrubbing with steel wool is ok in my book.

clifs: buy CRL its designed for what you need, dont forget gloves it smells like crap, sprinkler systems with crappy recycled water make cars nasty.
i cant believe someone mentioned it yet.
its called CLR: calcium/lime/rust removal.
it is specifically designed to do just what you are asking about. you can find it at just about any osh/homedepot/grocery store. the last dsm i owned had sit parked next to a sprinkler system that used recycled water. Every day for months the side of the car was sprayed...leaving these deposits that were damn near a full milimeter thick all over the front passenger side of the car. a couple pass's with crl and some elbow grease and bye bye deposits. and dont forget to use rubber gloves, the stuff stinks like crap.
