2005 RSX Type S Sales Brochure Pics + Specs Official Acura
I just received this 2005 Acura RSX Type S brochure from my local dealer...210 hp with redesigned front and rear bumpers...I attached large pics straight from the brochure...Sorry for the quality, my scanner is not the best! Enjoy! I will be adding more pics from the brochure throughout the day when I have extra time..
Sorry for the really large files...If I make the files much smaller it gets difficult to see everything clearly.
The 17" Wheels Look Really Nice...Also the 215/45/17 tires are a nice upgrade! Brochure does not indicate what model Michelins they are but it does make a reference to them being Sticky which is a plus
Overall differences that I have noticed right off the bat are as follows....The comparison specs are out of a 2002 brochure so some changes may have occured in 2003 & 2004 that I am unaware of such as weight.
The overall height is .2" shorter.
The Final Drive is now 4.77 vs old was 4.389...To make up for the 17" wheels.
Weight 2840 new vs. old was 2767 Difference of 73 Pounds
Sway bars increased to 26.5 mm front & 21 mm Rear...2002 model was 23 mm front & 19 mm rear...Nice increase!
Horsepower goes up to 210 @ 7800rpm and torque goes up to 143 @ 7000 rpm...2002 model was 200 hp @ 7400 rpm and 142 @ 6000 rpm torque
Red line is increased to 8100 vs 2002 model was at 7900
Wheels for 05' are 17" with a 215-45-17 vs. older models had 16" w/ 205-55-16
I will be really curious to see how the dyno looks on this car...Hopefully it will make a lot more horsepower at the tire...Honda has definitely been sandbagging their numbers a bit lately especially on the S2000. Plus driving wise I think the 05' should be substantially quicker given the big difference in the Final Drive...The overall diameter of the tires between 04' & 05' should be close to the same depending on which tire is used by Honda...
For comparison I looked up a 215-45-17 Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 and the overall diameter is 24.6"
Then I looked up a 205-55-16 Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 and the overall diameter is 24.9"
This shows that the new tires on the 05' should be a smaller overall diameter...When you add in the new 05 Final Drive the car should be quicker without a doubt! Good stuff! Still not the Type R but at least it is an improvement!

i reall really dislike the outside. too much like a Mazda3/TSX/Civic... i think it lost its sportiness.
im really impressed with the engine and suspension mods. i wonder if the final drice is interswappable with our trannies.

thicker sways *yummy*. added weight? where did that come from? can't complain with a higher redline. new swap potential. welcome to the k-series family

thanks man...
but i don like the headlights and tail lights...
i think it would be better if they just put the new engine in the old body
but i guess when the new car comes out, ppl will be able to make the 03's preform as good as the 05's just by modding the engine with the new stuff rite?
and btw... this is comming out next year rite?... caz i don have an RSX yet.. but i want to get one.. but i prefer the 2002-2004 vers. and i don think i will be able to get one this year.. probably next, and i don want to get second hand...
P.S. i don thnk the RSX need redesigning yet... since the old model lasted like.. 8 years...
i think it looks like a Lancer....

LOL.... Well, you can definitely see the family resemblance to the TL and TSX. Maybe that was the point.
Not too sure about the styling, but all the mechanical changes are a step in the right direction if they can keep the cost down.

The only thing I'd add right off the bat is that excellent, cheap Honda Torsen axle.

performance wise, looks good
the front looks like a civic, rear looks like tsx...and what's up with that black molding on the back bumper? looks like a gap between the lip and the bumper

Yea the upgraded performance specs are great, but the exterior, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I just picked up my 04', definetly not regretting it. Although its a slight design change, I prefer the 04' & earlier.
Where is the weight gain coming from???
It appears both the Type S and the Base have extra weight on.
73 lbs for Type S and somewhere bwtn 35-40 lbs on the Base.
Not a big deal but quite a gain for just some changes.

I don't know if you guys noticed but the Tq lasts longer. On our 02-04 models our Tq is 142 Lbs at 6000 rpm. Now on this model it's 143 Lbs at 7000 rpm, so i guess they just tuned the ecu, to get thta extra 10 hp

IMO. Performance looks to have improved.
