Default For Sale: 1995 Integra GS-R H3/ITS Race Car

Edit 2-3-05: I have decided to take the car off the market. Slight change of plan, especially with the used race car market being as soft as it is.

The original post follows:

This is a difficult thing for me to do but the time has come for me to sell the Integra. Many of you know this car rather well.

1995 Integra GS-R race car
Purchased new in June of 1995, now built to participate in the NASA East Coast Honda Challenge. Here's what she's got...

Drivetrain:
- B18C1 1.8L VTEC Motor
- Stock 4.4 final drive
- JDM Integra Type R limited slip diff
- Timing set to 19deg. advance (recommend race gas)
- Mobil 1 from mile 1000
- Mocal 19-row oil cooler with Aeroquip high pressure lines and fittings
- Remote oil filter adapter with sending units installed for Autometer oil temp and oil press gauges. I have the gauges in hand, have not finished the install yet.
- DC Header with custom-fabbed 2.5' collector out to rear exit 2.5" straight pipe exhaust.
- AEM cold air intake
- All-metal radiator
- Brake and clutch cylinders replaced at 90K
- A/C deleted
- Brand new ACT clutch and pressure plate with maybe six track days on it

Safety:
- Interior gutted to ECHC / IT specifications
- Fully custom, 7 point (missing driver side firewall bar, thats all) Kirk Racing cage. Fully triangulated and stiff - the car will sit on three jackstands (!). NASCAR driver side door protection, petty bar, integrated custom seat mount, window net
- Sunroof replaced with sheet steel (still have the original pieces)
- 5lb fire bottle mounted to cage
- 5 point TRW camlock harness (expired this year, will need replaced)
- Kirkey 17" road race seat
- I/O Port Racing seatback brace
- Custom-fabbed killswitch

Suspension:
- KONI single-adjustable (rebound) shocks with SPSS3 custom valving. Revalve perfomed at KONI NA has two weekends on it. This valving is good for up to 1200lb springs.
- Ground control front upper shock mounts
- Current alignment: 2.2 deg. negative camber, zero toe all four corners
- Eibach ERS Springs; 600lb front, 1000lb rear
- Progress 22mm rear swaybar, mounted at LCA pickups (NOT mounted at subframe, those tear out)
- Front upper control arms swapped for add'l 3 deg. caster
- SPC camber adjustable rear upper control arms
- Urethane bushings throughout
- 1 set Kosei K-1 15x7 38mm offset wheels. This is the magic set of numbers to fit a 225-45-15 Hoosier on a DC2 Integra. Shod with Hoosier R3S03s
- 1 set Enkei RF-1 15x7 38mm offset wheels. Shod with Hoosier Grand Am Cup tires that are not very useful anymore
- 1 set OEM Acura 15x6 wheels. No tires on these, good wheels for full depth Toyos for rains.

Miscellaneous:
- RoadRaceGear.com air dam and splitter package
- Integra Type R rear wing (not actually mine - might need to keep this. I still have the OE wing)

Spares:
Numerous ABS pumps and computers. Pair front knuckles with balljoints. Spare hubs, axles, wheels, brake pads, lots of stuff. I've owned this car for ten years so I've probably got considerable "Integra Pieces" laying around the house that I don't even know about.

Accident damage:
No major accidents its whole life. Years ago I put it up on the curb at a street autocross so the radiator core support is a little tweaked. The passenger side door has some dents in it from contact with a fellow racer. That's it.

Problems and issues:
First and foremost it's got a bad driver side axle. I will repair this before sale. There is a minor exhaust leak where the header meets the rest of the system. Some of the gauge lights (backlighting for the tach/speedo) are intermittent.

Where can I race it?
Any club racing program where it's legal - Improved Touring S with SCCA, Honda Challenge H3 with NASA. Take the petty bar out of the cage, put in a passenger seat, install a muffler, and you've got a fast and safe HDPE car. Other road racing options exist too.

In the THSCC Time Trial program it has gone undefeated in all classes it has run in since the inception of the series. During various stages of the car's development it has run in D Street Prepared and ITS. In 2001 this car took third place overall both days among some very fast company.

Whats it drive like?
This is a fast FWD road racing car. It turns in RIGHT NOW and drop throttle oversteer is tuned into the car by design.

How much?
Best offer over $10K takes it all. Firm. That means "No, I will not take $9K or $8K or $9,900." I am also not interested in parting the car out. I am not interested in selling any of the spare wheels - they are part of the spares package being included with the car.

I have that much in modifications to the car alone; there is very easily $30,000 invested in this car over the last 9 years. Quite possibly more than that - I'm afraid to add it up.

This is a very good and extremely well cared for car. A steal at that price.

After I drove this car at a Viper Days event a few years ago (and embarassed the f@ck out of everything that didn't have "Team Oreca" decals and air jacks on it) I started calling it "Black Crack".

So I guess a THSCC spec E36 M3 is in your future??? Can I help you sort it??

Seriously, very to see this go. It spent more time in my garage in Durham than some cars I owned.

hmmm...........

2 race cars CAN'T be a good idea. although i do have the perfect parts car already.

wish we had NASA out here in kansas. or at least ITS rules that let the car be competitive.

good luck selling.

I really wish you guys hadn't all dog-piled on this GS-Rs can't be competitive stuff. There is one car it (and the rest of ITS) won't do well against. And that, with the current look of things may very well change. Unless you will be running against a fleet of E36 325s all prepped to the max, a fully sorted GS-R will be at the front of the pack - I got money on it. I wish I had enough money to buy one to prove it.

And yes, absolutely good luck selling it

Wow, so you're going to be like me and sell your track car right after you finally find the Powerstroke tow vehicle you've been searching for? What's next for you?

We're going to spend 2005 teaching brother Karl how to race.

A number of people have asked me why. Well, I've had this car for about a decade now, and to be honest, I'm ready for something different. Whatever it ends up being will be a "track car" only - not a wheel to wheel racer. I've decided I'm done with owning sedan based racers - next *race* car I own will be a sports racer of some sort...something built and designed to be a race car, not a street car.

What's next? I dunno. Shaun you're right...good time to get a high dollar tow rig, right before selling the race car What's next depends on how much I get for the Integra. On the list are / have been...

- E36 M3
- CRX Si, possibly with a swap
- Something "interesting" under the hood of my commuter BMW 325
- Mustang or F Body or some sort of Corvette
- Any number of other "interesting" cars including Porsche 944 Turbo, bone-stock WRX, MINI...

PICTURES:

This one's a couple years old and still shows the long-gone bolt-in cage.

This one is current with the exception of the missing RoadRaceGear.com splitter and air dam:

Will look for some more.

Yeah, I made the same smooth move buying my F250 right at the time when my CRX became a garage queen. Oh well, my wife wants a slide-in camper for it, so keeping it can be justified

This gets my vote

I really love the Factory Five kits...either the street model or the spec racer is ok with me. I'm seriously thinking of selling my CRX for one. I guess I miss Mustanks too much.

Good luck with the sale, Karl. It seems like a really great deal.

I had the pleasure of driving this car for a few laps at speed during a school at VIR South course. (I believe MaddMatt, Bowie, and I are among the few people that have had a chance to try it on track ... Thanks Karl! He took my 325is out for a few laps and came back complaining about the understeer )

I totally agree with MaddMatt's "Black Crack" comment. It's amazing how solid, smooth, and fast Karl's car felt compared with my old H4 Civic. Made the damn Civic feel like a British car in comparison.

After I split between 2 Vipers going into the turn 1 braking zone, Karl said "Don't get all red-misty with my car man..." Or something like that. I wasn't listening much.
