Take her into the dealer, they will first lube. Now that may last for days or months. Then take the car back and hopefully they will replace the Master Cylinder, and that would be more of a concrete fix. That is how most have had it fixed.

the dealer here replaced the clutch pedal first, lubed it two separate times afterwards, finally replaced the master cylinder about 2 weeks ago.

NO! Don't use WD-40! Use something that will stick to the parts such as white lithium grease. That should last much longer. I started doing this and the noise stays away for at least a good month or so, but it will probably come back. I suggest getting your master cylinder replaced under warranty, but complain to the dealership soon so that they at least have it on file. Chances are all they will do is lube it the first couple of times, but by then you might already be out of warranty, so at least they'll have it on file...

Is it like a popping click sound? Mine does it twice on the way down and sometimes once on the way up. I haven't figured it out.

Kinda like that (or atleast kinda starts out that way). Well two weeks ago I took her in (02 SI), they lubed it. That lasted like two days, took her in today. And they are replacing the Clutch Master Cylinder and I will get her back tomorrow. Still under warrenty, so no charge.

Mine does what your talking about too. Does anyone know for sure what part is causing the noise. A spring or the master cylinder?

Spraying white lithium grease on it will take care of it for a while. It will come back though. There isn't any service bulletins for this is there?

I have the same problem with my 2K. Took mine into the dealership and it has to do with the pivot on the clutch rod. The pieces eventually dry up, rust and make that noise. The dealership is taking mine in and under warranty replacing the whole thing. I would suggest the same vs. maintaining it by lube. Get it replaced then maintain it by lubing it. Thats what Im gonna do. Hope that helps.

good to know that im not alone in this. i have a 2002 civic si and everytime i step on the clutch, it makes a squeaking sound like an old door opening and my dad is saying that the clutch is "low." my friend has the same car and he said that he had the same problem and had the master cylinder replaced, but his was under warranty and mine is no longer under warranty. is this something that i can replace myself?

i got the same problem, but aside from the noise (it doesn't really bother me) does it do any damage to the car.

I'm not too sure if it causes any damage but so far no recalls. I'm just putting white lithium grease on it so the noise stops for a while. It takes forever for me to try to put my car in. The dealership from where I live is always packed.

I'm noticing this problem now. It will make noise at first, when I haven't had the clutch in for a while after driving, but once I go through the gears, it stops.

ok, so i had the service performed some time ago because of a service bulletin. Honda replaced the clutch master cylinder.

Well...now it's making noise again. I have 46K on it...before, it was more of a creaking sound...the new sound with the new MC is a squeak halfway in the pedal range of motion.

what kind of recourse do i have now that the car is out of warranty, but they performed the repair because of a TSB?

car is an '04 EP and is and always has been completely BONE stock
