DIY Trunk Brace 98% Completed!!

tools needed. power drill, 5-6 diff size drill bits, wd-40, a table to work on, and fossil polarlized sun glasses to look cool while drilling
diff size drill bits.
after i finished the first hole
bolt length, later found out it is the wrong size.
what it will look like installed tomorrow
1" thick box bar (steel, not aluminim, but still hollow)
extra piece i cut off. test painted it orange i had laying around, will paint this color tomorrow, or black. not sure.

yea but the location i put it has already has 2 holes for bolts.

what do strut bars help? lol... right...
nothing. hah i duno if it will stiffen up the rear because i have not picked up the bolts for it yet so i cannot tell you how it is.

well if you look at where this bar bolts into under the car you will see it bolts into the frame rails hence strengthing the frame, therefore makeing the rear end a little bit stiffer

i did the same thing except i used some bronze bushings in the box tubing to re-enforce the bolt whole.. (basically gives the bolt full contact all the way through)
and a helpfull tip to anyone loking to do this is if you have an ACE hardware they are an excelent supply of auto grade metric bolts
i was also thinking of remaking mine (although it is very sturdy) with a 2" solid aluminum round with the ends milled flat for bolts.

Recently remade my trunk brace using forged endlinks and reverse threads, so I can put some preload on the brace.



My trunk looks disgusting because I never got all of the sound deadening out
I also plan to paint it soon.

yes, i made it myself. made the 2 end pieces which a pice of tube steel slips into . had it welded professionaly for a box of doughnuts.. total cost 10 bucks 8 for the doughnuts and 2 for the bolts.
