Are you "In"?
You know - hang with the right people? Read the right magazines?
Yeah, you're on H-T, so you know.
So you've seen that new AP pedal box right?
This one: http://www.apracing.com/car/pedalbox/pboxp7.htm
It solves many problems - especially spatial ones. It's gorgeous. My feet Really ought to be touching somehting like that!
So I called one of the US distributers.
He asked if I was sitting down.
Roughly $4400 for the box assembly. The MC's are about $500 each.
Scott, who "probably" won't be touching one of these any time soon...

Greg,
I'd think by now you'd have given up trying to talk sense to me.
I'm like a crazy person on Let's Make a Deal. And offered the choice between a set of shocks and a pedal box...or the Spec Miata behind door number two...I look up at Monty with a crazed look and wetly blurt out "lzkxfdsdlfj.shocks and pedal box.oiaudsofisau".
Scott, who really could benefit from adult supervision...when they released me under my own recognizance they weren't doing me any favor (I'm jumping up and down like an idiot right now!)

I'm not asking this to be an *** - I genuinely want to know.
What problem with the DC2 pedals would you be solving with such a thing?

Just buy a plane ticket and bring $400 with you and we'll drive my car together in the ARRC enduro.
Scott, who says that winning the ARRC enduro sans $4400 pedal boxes and $5000 shocks MIGHT smack some sense into the guy... *Might*

Karl,
You not ***. You aks gud qwestyon.
Will's right - :blort:
The problems with the ITR brakes, at this end, are the booster (it can be beat), and the lack of control over proportioning.
The peculiar attractions of the AP box above are:
Floor mounted brake pedal has superior ergonomics (when you push the brake your foot is raised into position to swing the heel to the throttle more easily). I grew up driving 105 chassis Alfa's which have floor mounted brake and hanging throttle. It's a little thing, granted, but it's the little things that add up to the kind of luxury I'm most fond of in a car. But I really have little to complain about with the stock ITR pedal ergo - it's more than adequate.
Any conventional floor mounted pedal box takes up space between the firewall and pedals - requiring you to move the seat and wheel back. This box is a great solution if your car has enough vertical room.
And, of course, we can't forget about the reduction in the vehicles center of gravity. This thing's got to be at least as effective as titanium lug nutz.
Scott, who isn't remotely considering buying this thing - even I can't rationalize this kind of expense to benefit ratio (at this income and competition level anyway).

The funny thing is, that's not true. If you search you'll find a diagram showing the that path the pedal, and your foot, take with both a top and a bottom pivot pedal. Top pivot more closely follows the actual path the ball of the foot takes. I even discussed this with Paul Van Valkenburg, <all bow... and kiss the ring...>

Joo are too hung up on one part of the biomechanical picture.

I'd rather have the GTA of the 60's-70's.
That or a Junior Zagato, so I could tell everyone it was a CRX.

I would agree with that and perhaps add narcissist to the mix.

"Who thinks that everyone on h-t that references themselves in the 3rd person like this is a blathering idiot." It is like posting on a site comprised entirely of Bob Doles. Wonder how long this will last before some Bob Dole mod deletes it?

Adam thinks you're right. Adam likes your point. Adam feels he's said it too many times before. Adam's glad you made the same observation. Adam get's tired reading all the fluff that comes before the name, all the political content comes after the name. Adam likes reading the Lemming Press sometimes.

Saw it in an AP add in "Racecar Engineering" a couple of weeks ago... droool...

Bob Dole thinks that, with all his pimpy new machines, Scott should build his own damn pedal box. Or maybe just a floor mounted brake pedal. Now wouldn't that be funny looking with the top-hinged clutch and gas?

I'm getting my car ready for the Honda Challenge and I too wanted to get the AP floor mounted pedal box. Here is the one I want http://www.apracing.com/car/pedalbox/pboxp2.htm Same one the RTR Integra is using. Cost was WAY too high for me. Luckily Tilton just came out with a new floor mount three pedal box for about $555.00 (retail). It's not on the website yet but they will e-mail information/pictures about it.

Will,
No, I don't know the price of Tilton's or Willwood's standard floor mounted setups. I haven't really thought about it seriously since I'd have to move the driver back to use it and that would require some changes to my cage.
I have thought about making up my own clone of the AP setup though. Though replicating their low friction/hysterysis pull type cylinders isn't likely.
Scott, who finds nothing odd in referring to himself in the third person...it's just another thing I love about myself...to delicious excess I'm afraid. "Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the most blort-tastic of them all?"

Stop racing sedans, buy a real race car, and, mircale of miracles, it will come with pedals just like the ones you posted here.
Just don't go off.
