Default with LSD, does the steering knock?

i just swapped my motor w/ lsd, and when i turn the wheel all the way the steering knocks. it only does it when the car is in gear and driving, not when its in neutral or when clutch is in. someone told me this is common with LSDs, but not sure. and if this is true, how bad should the knocking be? any help is appreciate, thanks

what type of LSD was used? yes it's common, when turning a radius the wheel on the low side of the turn has to travel less than the wheel on the high side of the turn. thats where the 'knocking' comes from, the spider gears on the inside are trying to catch up w/ the spider gears on the outside.

I have a Kaaz LSD, and yes it is normal. More of a clunking. You can make it more quiet by using 80-90 gear oil with a LSD additive, if you have not allready done so. When I first heard it I was shocked also.

its an aftermarket LSD, i believe kaaz or quaiffe, but some times it feels pretty bad, like i feel like the axles are going to pop out and sometimes even if the wheel is turned half a turn, is this normal?

sounds like Clutch type LSD chatter.

you really need to figure out what type of LSD it is...

if its a quaiffe, it is a gear type LSD, and should never make any noise.

if its a Kaaz, it is a clutch type, and requires special fluid to prevent chatter and damage to the clutch disks inside. Do a search to see how clutch type LSD's work

Kaaz LSDs require fluid with clutch type LSD additive, or Kaaz brand fluid.

yeah I have a quaife and it makes absolutely no noise what so ever. Also its very smooth when transfering power to the out side wheels.
