Default Best Intake?

Just out of curiousity which intake is the best performing as of now? I've heard good things about all the name brand companies such as AEM, Injen, and Iceman. But are there any others out there that are performing well for the B, and D series motors?

Also does anyone off hand know the size of the AEM Cold Air Intake for a D16Y7?

I am running a 3 inch aem cold air intake on my 92 civic hatchback with a b18c1 swap with a skunk2 intake manifold. I had to order a intake for a itr for the bends. I have nothing but good things to say about my intake other than the risk of sucking up water.AH'sSunshine

I did a search, I was hoping for more of a person opinion from each. Reason being a buddy of mine works with air craft grade carbon fibre, so were thinking of mocking something up for his B series, and my D series.

I would say ITB's But as far as intakes go the AEM v2 from whgat i hear is the best. But as far as diameter for civics it is a 2.5" and for R's it is 3" so you make the call when you order.

There is no "best" intake, just like there's no "best" cam/s. There are different intake styles and filters, that benefit certain set ups better than others. Just do a little research, and keep in my mind where you want to make the most power.

Of the 3 you listed, I would go with Iceman. Reason is it doesn't conduct much heat.

Right now I'm in the works with designing something based around the ARC intake system, as they had something similar in mind as well. Does anyone have pictures of the ARC intake system, or even performance specs of it?

qualities too look for in an intake.

1.powder coated (conduct less heat)
2.less bends
3.bends less than 90 degrees (the lower the angle of the bends, the better)
I can't remember where i got this information from, but it had explanations about the physics of air flow and causes of air turbulence.
4.filter
6.diameter on intake
there is an optimal diameter for each engine in relation to air flow, frig i'm wishing i remembered that URL.

frostcivic: Thanks for the info man, you wouldn't know the max diameter for a D series motor now would you? Oh, and I should have mentioned we'll be making this out of carbon fibre, and I may powder coat it. I powder coat for a living, so it all depends if I want it to be carbon fibre, or whatever colour. This is if the plans ever get off the ground.

There is a dyno graph somewhere on here, where the J's Racing intake gained 17whp on a B18C5.

frost: Yeah that's what I thought too, but it gets extremely repetitive. All I've been doing is shelving for super markets, and saftey equipment.

When I get a chance to not work overtime every day, I tend to go home.
