Default I know quite a few of you here don't like them...

but I do! I bought this as a birthday present for myself, had to wait exactly a month for it to be made and delivered. So what am I talking about...

It is a genuine Ings bonnet. Saved half the weight of the stock bonnet, it is all of 14.3lbs. No it won't be painted, I know some of you think it looks in poor taste to be left in its carbon goodness.

Just thought I would share.

Chris

Normally I would agree, but these ducts are very functional. The outlets let out the heat accumulated from the intake manifold and engine itself, the inlet pushes air down on to the exhaust manifold to try and keep the engine bay area cooler. This is basically the same design as the Mugen bonnet for the DC5.

As long as you like the hood and those vents work.

Nice hood!

I guess I can't bitch and flame if there is a legitimate reason behind them. Props for a functional hood, but I still personally wouldn't have one.

Any hood with holes in it "functions" better than one without, IMO.

Everyone talks about painting carbon fiber, and those who do talk about painting never actually own it because they have their own sterotypes of the material.

Buutttt, how does paint "stick" to carbon fiber? Is it a good material to paint over or does it look like ***? I rarely see it painted, and here almost everyone say to paint it, yet its not painted simply because I think people want the look.

What other material besides carbon fiber would help reduce weight as significantly as well as ease in shape and molding of the material? I see the debate, a few pounds for a black hood thats fine, but does anyone have any closeups of a painted hood?

Oh my that's one of the coolest things I've seen on the internet in a while. Everytime you post pics it's something to make me jealous

1 vote for the whole Ings +1 kit
1 vote for you to clean off that brake dust

Seriously, really nice

Looks great and functional - I know my engine bay is getting very hot.
I am in love with the ings+1 stuff...

I think it looks awesome. Do the vents have a way to prevent water from getting in during heavy downpours?

in that case, why not replace every panel on the car with fiberglass?

I value everyone's opinion and yes I know it is not to some people's liking, but obviously you can't please all, nor will I ever try, it's only about pleasing myself. So thanks to those that have commented to each of you.

Chris93Si, the whole car is in need of a bath, will be doing that shortly.

Utilitarian, no way to prevent water from getting in, I guess I will just have to drive faster to collect less drops possibly! Joking, I am not too worried about it really.

FrostyDC4, the stock hood is 13kg (28.6lbs).

Just curious, does the car get tracked?

Dbl A - who wonders if autocrosses/driving schools are anything in Japan.
