Default Skunk 2 Intake Manifold on a GSR

I'm considering upgrading to a S2 IM for my GSR.

Just wondering experiences from anyone here who's done it (gains to expect).

Also, do you have to upgrade the ECU ? Or can it run on the regular gsr one ?

Thanks

yeah your stock ecu is fine to run on it, when i swapped in mine it has a nice lil whistle a more flow you might notice it, remember it eliminates the secondary runners so if you thought your vtec was at 5570 nope it's at 4800.

So if the secondaries are removed,
do you get that awsome sound as if they're open all the time.
whhhaaaaaaaa!

I've heard 6-8 whp gain,
how much did you get yours for?
how much to install?

if you are completely stock and you switch out your IM your midrange is going to experience a good loss but I imagine it should make up for it uptop....?

I haven't installed mine yet because I am waiting to put in cams, manifold, and reproggaming my ecu for a single runner set up. I heard you don't gain hardly any power when you don't have anything else on your engine.

I have type R cams in my gsr right now, adjustable cam gears which I'm not putting in till I can dyno it, and a CAI which I would have to change with the new IM.

Wouldn't I be able to adjust for that lost midrange power with my cam gears?

A few people have told me to go with the S2 IM.
would you think with my setup it would be worth it?

How much are the manifolds/install?

Thanks

So my ECU will be looking for a second runner, and will that itself decrease power gains?

I installed a skunk 2 im on my gsr. All I have is i/h/e and suspension mods. I feel a big difference when v-tec kicks in at around 4500. Its a little louder but i feels good.

From what I understand the secondary runner works off a vacuum and not the ecu. Is this correct? If it is then your stock ecu will work fine.

use a sohc vtec ecu from a 92-95 civic. the secondaries work by vacuum yes but the computer will add fuel still. you'll be running too rich. try using a skunk ecu and lean it out with a vafc.

As per the dyno runs I saw, the Sk2 in a stock setup will give about 6-8 up top with a small sacrifice in the midrange. With some good tuning you can totally alter this however, and get good gains throughout (cams).
