Has anyone with a 89 used this site?
http://www.angelfire.com/ca/DrOhm/SiRcluster.html
It seems wrong, that or I cant understand the diagram for the 88-91. I guess I will just match up the wires manually.
PS, I was going to go with a itr cluster, but this is nicer in my opinion, so if anyone needs a electronic vss, let me know. Its complete.

At worst, you could just follow the traces on the clusters and create your own schematic.
If you have instructions for the 90/91 you may try searching for the install of the GSR cluster. I believe you will find a pin-out for the 88/89 as well as 90/91 for that install. You can compare the two and figure out what needs to be modified in your situation.

Thanks, ya I started to just trace my wires back to the locations, on a couple of them, it goes to weird/different spots. For example, on the edm cluster, the traces go to the fuel upper bolt, and the temp middle bolt. Then on the si cluster it will go to the fuel bottom bolt, then the temp middle bolt.
How do you read that? Thanks
PS, most are straight foward, so I should be able to figure it out.

There she is...

My god, that wasent as easy as I thought it was going to be. I had to play around with the wires a lot to get them to work correctly. But I absolutely love the outcome!! Ryan

Well, I got everything working right except the lights, I couldnt see them bacause it was too sunny yeaterday (I had to check last night) I think ist a switched wire, and I think I know which one... I wired it so the "ALB" light went to the hand brake, and the "((!)(P))" light went to the seatbelt. The edm cluster is truly weird... But you can wire it however you want.
I didnt wire up the open pass/driver doors yet(dont know if I will, there anoying anyway)
When I fix the lights, ill take note of the wire color positions, and post em... I wont forget people, be patient grasshoppers.

trust me.. all those god damn wires are a mess... its a bunch of ****.. they'res about 3 diff. wiring diagrams.. so i hacked them all off, and started from scratch.
all i can tell you is they all have a single color. so match them up.

WOW bro, thats a mess. I just de pinned mine, there is no mess, it looks almost stock. I think there is like 1 wire from each plug that needed to be switched to the other plug. And I fixed my lights...
This only works if the clip is up, and the wires are coming out at you.
8pin plug
blk - yel/red - grn/blk - blu/red - empty - yel/wht - yel - grn/yel
12pin plug
grn/blu - red/blu - yel/grn - blk/red - yel/red - empty - grn/orng - empty - blu/yel - blk/yel - wht/blu - blu
The red wire is for the dimmers, there is no dimmer for the edm... Just leave it unplugged. On the dimmer switch de pin the red and the black wires, and join them, this way your lights will stay at max brightness.
The 89 si hazard plug switch was different on the 89 si harness, so I will have to head out to the parts yard for this piece.
Also, the 90-91 brackets that hold the cluster in place are needed. I didnt have them either, so I am just going to pick them up at the same time as the switch.
I just cut the tops off the brackets, it works great temporarily, its that its just held in place by one bolt, not 2. So I will pick up the 90-91's eventually.

PS, I dont have the door warning lights working, you can hook them to the hazard light, but I didnt want to wire them up.

i tried how you set up your wiring and my tach and lights do not work.
when i put the wires together at the dimmer switch it keeps blowing the fuse

I think you are missing the point... The wiring is different between the 90-91 cluster and the 88 and 89's. I have a 89 car. Get it.

I think i get that point.... The whole cluster is different for an 88/89..... so if you were just to wire it up for a 90/91 and then do what i said it would work

the back of the cluster is from a us 90-91, my car is a 89 also.
i tried to do it the way you wrote it up but it didnt work for me.
what am i doing wrong??
the way you posted the write up did you do it right to left or left to right?
and the clip is facing up right.
on the dimmer switch? do you put the red-red/black -black together?
what about the rear defrost wires?

I did it with the clip up, from left to right.
For the dimmer, I extracetd the red, and then the black, and slid them together. The pins can clip together if you extract them properly.
The rear defrost is not working right now, it will when I can get a 90-91 plug.
