Dont buy into the propaganda. of "The Beast". You can make an engine run 9's for that much. Its not a good Deal.

i think its a killer deal, granted you can build a engine that might make more power for less money but these parts are all gonna be brand new.

The Dart block is overkill for that motor IMO.

that might be pushing it but even if you can get it to run 9's does it come with a 12/12 warranty?

I think you can build a better engine for less. 84.5mm not big enough for me. Compression is too low. Even after you spend over 9k for this you still have to deal w/ gearing and suspension.

for a 12/12 warranty

for the price

I wouldn't personally buy it. Do it yourself and save $$$$$$$$$$$

Wow , so how many 9 sec motors have you built for under 9?

so you would rather spend the same amount for a new stock block from honda? remember that this is a BRAND new engine package.

Dave dont forget that all these people have personally built 270 hp motors that have lasted 12tho miles

Except you forgot the 12k warranty( even though you mentioned it) and the fact that everthing is NEW.

I could build a spare motor out of my spare parts that would put down 20 more whp than my current one does, but it isnt going to last thousands of miles and 80+ dyno pulls like my current one.

The beast is a good deal for people who want no hassle's and want to drive daily anywhere.

Sounds kinda expensive, and you guys keep mentioning the warranty, but 12/12 isn't really that long. After a year if something breaks, then what do you do?

hey mr smarty pants. price out all new parts and see what you get.

engine assembly is roughly 1k, dart block is 2k+ add all the other NEW stuff and its still more than 9k

you could of course get a used b18b block, get it sleeved, get a gsr head ported blah blah. but it would still be pricey.
240+whp doesnt come cheap

Does anyone know of one being sold? I bet they haven't sold any. I think if you started with a JDM B16, AEBS sleeved it to 84mm, installed a LS Crank, JE Pistons, Eagle 3/8 bolt rods, valves, springs, retainers, and labor, you could make 240 wheel HP (probably 270HP to the crank) for probably $5000.00. The money you save you could buy a hatch to put it in.

a 240whp B16 will cost a little bit more than 5 g's. figure about 3 g's just for head work and cams. still another 3 g's to build the bottom end. then add in new gaskets seals and other small misc items your in the 7-8 g range and still dont have any manifolds or management.

b16 with 240 whp..haha and a 12k warranty.. You people have no clue. I dont think anyone that hasnt built a 240 whp motor personally or been involved with one should even have the right to comment like that.
I made a post awhiler back about all those who have made big na powere here on honda-tech.. There was was like 10 of us who have ever even broke the 230 whp mark on a bseries for a street motor yet everyone keeps dropping this 240 # like its so easy. All the benchtop racers we have here.

that is a dope price for a brand new motor, plus cnc ported, hehe thats problaby cooler than any other part available.plus a bare cnc ported head is like $2500 and everyone who doubts this motor must have forgot that you CAN upgrade from what it comes with stock, kinda like ummm , hmmmm.... tuning.I bet you could get quite a bit more power from that motor, i bet it could even be made into a 10 sec dragger quit easy.for the price and the time it could save its problably better thatn building a motor from scratch.i totally agree with t-bone, ohh and 240 whp is ten sec material for those who don't know.

Personally I don't see the point in spending 9g's on that motor. When I am said and done with my motor, I would have spent about 10g's, INClUDING turbo parts. And that will be 500+whp. For the same price, I could have bought a "beast" motor, with ONLY a 12 month warranty, and had only half the power. Worth it? I don't feel it is.

since you quoted me i guess your trying to imply something to me. ive seen #'s over 240 on many accassions, as i build race stuff. ive built 3 1.8 street motors that run on pump gas(93) that made over 220 through a muffler. i know exactly what it takes to make hp. if you take a 2.0 b16 and cant make 240 then you did something wrong, or didnt spend your money in the right place.

all the people that really think its hard just dont know, once you figure it out its just one of those things you look back on and say why didnt i think of that 2 yrs ago?

Can you please show me where I quoted you???? I responded to the last post in the thread???? I was actually refering to what autoraceparts was saying.
And you still missed the point.. Anyone of us engine builders can build a more powerfull engine for 9k, but i doubt none of can build one with that higher power and give a 12k warranty.
A b16 isnt 2.0 last I checked. It's now called a 2.0 not a b16. Do you see me calling my motor a gsr since I have a gsr crank.

All the people who know its hard are the people who have done it.. So I'll give you 8500 and i want you to build me a 250 whp motor that runs on pump gas and every single part is 100% brand new...Deal?

You dont need to post your merrits , been seeing you at the track for years buddy, back when you had a bone stock b16 (if this is who I think it is)

I don't think people are getting the big picture here "everything is brand new" with a 12K warranty. This isn't some ls block you bought for $100 and now your getting it sleeved for $800. The parts are all new. I'm not particular sure as to what is exactly done to beast motor or what it has, but with a little ghetto estimate it might look like this:
block:$1500-2000
head:$1500
pnp ect...:$1500
pistons$800-1000
rods$1000
cams$500-800
And that doesn't even include the manifold, bearings,rings,gaskets,ect.........
and shipping. Does anyone have a run down as to whats inside this motor? Alot of the stuff I listed might be cheaper then that but........
I never built a 240+whp motor but I know its damn hard to do, some people just don't realize that. And be reliable at the same time.

I'm gonna have to agree with Tbone...don't think for a second that many people are making that kind of power at all...even if you ignore the cost, there still aren't even many people making 200+- so Mostly only top dogs that own shops and everything are doing it with their hook-ups and stuff.

you guys are idiots saying its not a good deal . ask Tbone on here how much **** you have to do to a dart block to even start the build . then take into account that every single part is brand new , down to the crank . peace all that **** together seperatly , combined with assembly , and everything else , youll be up there. now for a turbo setup its not a good deal . but for an all motor "beast" its a great way to go
