Default Explain EK weight differences? (curb weights listed)

Here are the curb weights from carpoint.com for EK hatches:

96ek cx2222, dx2242
97ek cx2238, dx2253
98ek cx2295, dx2339
99ek cx2359, dx2388
00ek cx2359, dx2388 (only one that is the same as previous year)

Now, I know that 99 is when they restyled the front/rear of the EK, but does the redesigned bumper really make that much weight difference? So a 96 with converted bumpers would weigh as much as a 99+? That is some drastic change for plastic bumpers replacing plastic bumpers...

Please explain all of the variences! Thanks

BTW, these are all MT weights. AT are a bit more.

No one knows? I mean obviously it is A/C, P/S, probably some sound deadening and maybe the newer trim as I mentioned....but I am looking for someone with specific knowledge and weights (or close anyway)...thanks

99-00 have passenger reinforcement thingies. Supposedly that weighs more.

Not to mention I heard that the Electronic climate control weighs a grip more.

My guess would be yes. When I ordered my EK I had to pay a grip for A/C (I should have not gotten it)

I remember my Ek weighin 2440 with my C5 swap and no A/C (roughly 2330 with a D series)

I remember the 99's (DX'x) also got Powerseteering standard

Bump for knowledge

An EG is way lighter a ****** CX weighs like 2000lbs before gutting which is 300lbs = at least 3 - 5 tenths in drag in weight alone

Factoid: EKs have longer wheelbase over EG/DC ...more high speed stability

Good info ^_^

However, the lightest factory EG is 2094 lbs., so that isn't quite 2000

Lightest EG = 2094
Lightest EK = 2222
Difference = 128 lbs.

So you save 128bls or get the longer wheelbase...hmm.

I urge you to search http://www.carpoint.com.

But, for this 1 time:

1996 DX (MT) = 2262 lbs.

Not much more than the hatch eh? Enjoy coupe owners But hatches are still sexier

I said "like" 2000 lbs and I had a 99 DX 2338 - 2094 = 244 lbs at 70lbs a tenth thats equal to 3 tenths in the quarter given the same power

Do you know how much people pack to knock 3 tenths off of their times? Imagine 5 tenths?

THATS why people bitch about it.

The newer civics also have a wider track and better passenger safety standards and are bigger inside and look much more "up scale" due to their euro redesign.

EK's look sick with the right parts even EG riders will admit that the 99 front end is sick.

I own an EG now and its cool. I love the old school flavor it has.

But a jdm front end frost white DC oWnS me....1997...thats all I though about for a long time. Still do when I browse the 'for sale' ads
