I remember seeing a post a few weeks ago about how to tell which pistons you have (a/b) I can't find that post anymore (it had pictures and stuff)
Can anyone point me in the right direction on where the hell on the block it is stamped? Is there anyway to tell without removing the head or other parts?

oh wow, thanks a million! I've heard that there are a series of letters? Abba or something like that, is this true? I saw on yours only an A, so all the pistons are A?
yeah there will be 4 letters, you just can't see the others in the picture. It can be any combination of A and B. Mine happened to be AAAA. The stamp might be dirty, I just wiped it off with my finger.

what's the whole reasoning behind having a series of different pistons(abba)? I mean wouldn't it make more sense to have one engine have all A and another engine have all B instead. The difference in each piston is so minuscule...

that is so retarded yet SO FUNNY!
the differences in the piston sizes are to accomidate for differences in the block casting.

Honda has always been a stickler for running very exact clearances, so the different size pistons are to make up for the tolerances in the machining and casting processes....much the same way there's like 5 different bearing sizes in OEM Honda bearings.

Does the same thing apply?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I would say yes. The blocks are identical and the piston bore is the same, so the procedure for determining piston sizes should be the same as well.
