i drilled 2 holes, one in each corner of the side of the valve cover then used a air powered mini saw (sawzall might work, but a little bulky) to cut 3 straight lines. i then used a rotary grinder to smooth all the rough edges.

Dremel with the ~60-70mm dia. fibrous disc.
It took me ~20 min. (with rests) to make the 3 cuts on the cover.

If you make the 3 cuts parallel to the outside edge of the cover (no just a rectangular hole) the cutting is a lot easier. You will wind up with a modified rectangle but still looks nice.

"ITR009" (Pat) had one of the covers that I worked on. "BlackR" has it now... I think.

wow a 60 - 70mm disc? the largest ive seen for a dremel is 30mm i think. I'll go look for it tomoro.

i also know what u mean by cutting it parallel to the edge, thats what i'll probably do....... cheers mate!

And to think... I was heavily sedated by beir all 3 times I have cut covers... It's a wonder they were even cut on the correct end...

Those ~60mm discs are expensive! maybe $1.50 (US) each or close to that. I will try to get a part # for you N1.

Yesh, Willard did an excellent job with my valve cover. Glad you're happy with it, Ken.

Sorry for the wrong size... 30-35 mm disc is the correct size.

If they were 50-60 mm they would last a lot longer...

Pack #426
"Fiberglass Reinforced"
5 per pack

Jason (Typer98) and I used a Dewalt Jig saw, cut through that **** like hot butter. Took us all of 3 min.

I'll see if Jason will take a picture of the cover.
