Are all these guys running pump gas on these high compressions?
Race gas doesnt count!

thanks for the responses. I was hoping to see someone running minor boost at around 12:1 compression. I'm happy and currently tunning the hell out of my 12:1 gsr/type r and was thinking about starting up a supercharger or little turbo system. I'd probably have to throw a thick head gasket in to bring my compression down to a sane level. :-D

keep em coming!

I must talk to this person! A few people at the track told me I NEED to go to team-integra.net . I laid low for a while after selling my turbo civic, and came out with this all motor integra beast.

Do you remember this persons name? I'd love to supercharge my car and run only 5psi. I've got all the tools to tune (wideband, rom burner, egt) so i'm willing to accept the challenge.

thanks for giving me hope for boost under such high compression :-D

Well, If you are talking about FI in general, then I am spraying a 50 shot with an estimated 11.0 : 1 compression ratio in a b16.

Yeah, I wanna know too. Nice numbers

So you guys don't think its necessary to lower compression from 9.6:1 if you wanna run 400whp on pump gas then?

you can if you'll like.
They're have been many post about this.
Its all about what you want.
you can run
low COMPRESSION with HIGH BOOST or
high COMPRESSION with LOW BOOST.

There are some point when running High compression. To me the only down side is with the compression im running which is 10.5:1 im limited to about 13-15psi MAX on pump 93 octane gas. I was watching a video of a Hatch that had stock GSR compression running the same turbo i have and @ 8psi he was making 332hp i think. TO me 332hp@8psi for a Street car is enough for me. Plus thats all you need in a FWD drive anyways unless you like buy new tires every 2weeks. ALso i could go on and on but theres alot of virables to go thur.

Yeah you can run high compression with low boost, or low compression with high boost. What's the advantage/disadvantage of each?

The setup with high compression will have better lowend and response while off boost. But it also need more retarded timing.

But what's the downside to being limited in how much boost you can run, if you can still make enough power though?

running high compression and low boost
advantage is better low-end throttle responces.
disadvantage is you cant alot of boost on pump gas.

Running low compression and high boost.
advantage is you can run alot of boost and say im running 18psi+
disadvantage is LAG depending on the compression and the size of the turbo.

theres alot of reason for both. If you do a search on Compression your get alot of topices.

Im running 10.5:1 compression because its my street car and im trying to keep it that a street car with AC.
Yeha 10.5:1 is kinda high but i dont care. its GOING to be fun beating some cars and telling them im only running 8psi.
